The brand-new Centralized Staffing & Scheduling Office (CSSO) will go live in spring 2026 and serve all inpatient units, the Emergency Department, and Support Services Departments (i.e., Food and Nutrition Services, Environmental Services, Security Services) with staffing and scheduling needs. With a robust team operating from 0600-0000, 7 days per week, the CSSO will support staffing and scheduling activities across the hospital, working closely with staff and leaders to ensure unit and department needs are met, in addition to launching a new scheduling software as part of Project HIVE. The Nursing Resource Unit (NRU) at CAMH is an internal staffing team currently comprised of Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, and Program Assistants, who deliver exceptional client care across all inpatient units and the Emergency Department (ED) at CAMH, in the event of strategically planned and unplanned staff absences. This team is looking to expand to include additional disciplines to meet CAMH’s staffing needs and will work with the CSSO in an integrated fashion. Reporting to the NRU Manager and CSSO Manager, the full-time, permanent Clinical Operations Coordination Leader (COCL) will support the operation and coordination of both clinical and administrative functions for the CSSO and NRU. Success will be that all in-scope units/departments are adequately staffed in an operationally safe and cost-efficient manner at all times. This position is located at the Queen Street site and requires the candidate to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and evenings. Key activities will include, but are not limited to: Facilitating seamless collaboration and knowledge-sharing between the CSSO and NRU, along with unit/department leaders and other key stakeholders (e.g., People & Experience, Labour Relations, Patient Flow) Assisting with the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new clinical and administrative staff Supervising the day-to-day work of the administrative team and ensuring that all in-scope units/departments are appropriately staffed in a safe, cost-efficient manner Identifying and developing educational requirements and transitional supports for staff Supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices and roll-out of corporate and quality improvement initiatives Ensuring staff compliance with CAMH policies and procedures Following up on complaints and incident reports Assessing and reporting on key metrics (e.g., NRU utilization) Participating in the ongoing optimization and expansion efforts of the CSSO and NRU and supporting process development and standardization efforts Bachelor's degree in nursing, psychology, social work, healthcare administration, or a related field If in a regulated health care discipline, must show proof of registration and be a member in good standing within their respective College 2-3 years of relevant experience in a hospital setting; previous supervisory/management experience is required Demonstrated knowledge and experience of mental health and addiction systems and an understanding of inpatient/ED service delivery across diverse patient populations Able to effectively supervise the work activities of others and to provide leadership Knowledge of human resource management practices in a unionized environment and demonstrated understanding of scheduling rules in the collective bargaining agreements Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, scheduling systems, and SharePoint Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills Able to work with persons of diverse ethnoracial and cultural backgrounds Knowledge of human resource management practices in a unionized environment Familiarity with financial and operational practices is an asset Bilingualism (English/French) and/or proficiency in a second language is preferred and would be an asset CAMH is a fully affiliated teaching hospital and research institute of the University of Toronto.
