Overview As an Inclusion Worker, you will provide 1:1 support to children and youth with disabilities in municipal camps. You have a strong interest in connecting with your participants and providing unique supports and accommodations while encouraging maximum participation. You will work closely with camp staff to provide the best camp experience for not just your camper, but the camp as a whole. Responsibilities Review participants’ accommodation plans to familiarize yourself with their social history, interests, abilities, and needs. Assist participants with program activities as outlined in their accommodation plans. Provide suggestions to program staff regarding program/equipment adaptations to allow for successful participation of participants. Ensure participants’ successful involvement in recreation programs based on individual abilities. Monitor the safety and well‑being of participants and report or document any challenges or concerns. Recognize participants’ strengths and limitations and provide program modifications based on their abilities while considering safety needs. Assist participants with personal hygiene (e.g., toileting, changing, washing hands). Assist participants in and out of wheelchairs, on and off toilets, etc., using appropriate lifting techniques and procedures. Respond to behavioural issues and proactively plan to prevent issues from escalating. Respond to escalated issues ensuring safety of all (e.g., implementation of approved physical intervention techniques). Respond to basic participant and family inquiries when possible/applicable; refer advanced issues to coordinator, supervisor, or manager. Observe and immediately report changes in participants’ physical and emotional conditions to coordinator, supervisor, or manager. Ensure medications are taken by participants and stored in a safe/secure space. Ensure areas are accessible and barrier‑free for participants. Complete incident reports as required. Provide first aid and CPR as required. Perform duties in accordance with corporate confidentiality standards. Perform other related duties as assigned. Education Grade 12 diploma plus up to 1 year of additional job‑related post‑secondary education. Experience 1-6 months of related and relevant experience, including an on‑the‑job period of adjustment. Additional Requirements Valid CPR Level "C" and Standard First Aid Certificate. Ability to provide a satisfactory Police Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector) issued after March 1, 2026 upon conditional offer. Work performed in a variety of municipal recreation spaces (e.g., golf course, community centre, swimming pool, outdoors). May be exposed to body fluids and waste when assisting participants with personal care in washrooms requiring the use of disposable gloves. May be required to work with participants who may bite or scratch; protective arm guards may be required. May be required to work with participants with physical aggression. Perform work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment to mitigate risk. Anticipated Employment Dates June 15 2026 – August 28 2026 Hours a week 35 hours Hours of work 8:30 am–4:30 pm (hours vary based on participant needs and may include evening work) Additional Information A detailed training schedule will be shared post‑hire. Training will take place Monday–Friday. All training (in‑person and online) is required and mandatory to complete prior to start of the program/camp. Statutory holidays will be observed on July 1 and August 3. Contract may be extended to include August 31 2026 – September 4 2026 based on program needs. Hours of work may fluctuate based on participant needs. Camp programs run between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. Some evening work required (weekly Tuesday night meetings 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities City of Kitchener approved behaviour‑management certification (e.g., PMAB, BMS, NVCI) post‑hire. Class G driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for the full duration of employment. Reliable with a good attitude and employment record. Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted. Ability to swim or provide support in the water. It is recommended that vaccinations (Tdap, MMR, chickenpox, Hepatitis B) are updated and current for the period of employment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
