**COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION WORKER**
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
The Community Organization Worker reports to the Manager of Independent Living Resources and works with other staff within the Community Resource Program. This position supports the Community Resource Program by coordinating a video series for the Kids on the Block program and helps support other recreational activities for persons with disabilities. For 40 years, the Kids on the Block puppets have been promoting diversity, social cohesion and advocacy for individuals with physical, mental and emotional disabilities
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Use existing performance scripts to update, design, and implement a series of short videos capturing the Kids on the Block puppets discussing issues surrounding inclusion for persons with disabilities
- Ensure these videos are available for public viewing on the ILWR YouTube channel.
- Support Community Resource coordinators to run Summer recreational activities for persons with disabilities
**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**
- Enrolled in or completion of a relevant undergraduate degree or diploma from a recognized college or university requiring three (3) years of study such as: performing arts/television/media/broadcasting/social media program
- Familiarity with issues surrounding inclusion for persons with disabilities and/or equity seeking groups
- Experience in scriptwriting and/or performance arts/puppeteering
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) is required
- Ability to work with and manage relationships with employees and internal stakeholders
- Passions for education, community inclusion, diversity, disability. awareness/advocacy and creative expression
- Police back check within the last three (3) months OR a willingness to obtain one
- Experience in filming and publishing to social media
This is a full-time contract position for 12 weeks, 35 hours weekly, funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

**Starting Wage**:$18.00/Hour
**WORK SCHEDULE**
Monday to Friday with evenings and weekend flexibility as needed

Contract length: 12 weeks
Pay: $18.00 per hour

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Kitchener, ON N2G 2B4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
**Education**:
- Secondary School (preferred)
**Experience**:
- video editing: 1 year (required)
- creative writing/ performing arts or similar: 1 year (required)
