Overview This posting will be used to fill a permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 6-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions. This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the Yukon. Who We Are The NP Clinical Lead reports to the Director of Integrated Health Services (IHS) and may work in any IHS clinics or programs (as required), including: Centre de Santé Constellation Health Centre: a bilingual primary health care clinic serving Yukoners of all ages, from babies to older adults in both French and English. Dawson City Medical Clinic: a primary care clinic for non-urgent conditions serving people of all ages in Dawson City, Yukon. Whitehorse Walk-in Clinic: an episodic non-urgent primary health care clinic serving Yukoners who do not currently have a primary care provider. Yukon Healthy Living Program: a collaborative care team that offers individual and group support for people who have chronic conditions with nurse educators, exercise specialists, certified respiratory educators, dietitians, and pharmacists. Yukon Midwifery Program: a collaborative care team that provides primary health care for pregnancy, labour (at home or in hospital) and up to eight weeks post partum. All of these clinics function as multi-disciplinary integrated teams, with team members including physicians, registered nurses, social workers, pharmacists, exercise specialists, licensed practical nurses, medical office assistants and other social and allied health professionals. Who We Are Looking For The NP Clinical Lead provides leadership and advice for all IHS clinics and across the department of Health and Social Services while also managing a part-time patient roster. As a primary care NP, they provide family-centered care, combining advanced practice skills, research, and specialized nursing knowledge to deliver health care to clients from birth to death and with health issues ranging from acute to chronic, and simple to complex. As a senior clinical member of the IHS leadership team, they will collaborate with supervisors and managers to provide leadership, manage clinical risk, and ensure quality care. They will support NP practice, clinical education, mentorship for new NPs, and advise on practice issues. The role requires a strong understanding of health and social initiatives and the ability to navigate interprofessional relationships across the Yukon. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have leadership experience and experience working in a primary health care clinic setting working in collaboration with other medical and allied health staff. Infectious agents in the handling and disposing of bodily fluids and wastes, needles, dressings, and treatment of patients with infections, and latex products. Travel within the territory periodically, and travel out-of-territory to attend meetings, workshops, and conferences for professional development, as required.
