Join us at WSP in Canada as an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer to support heavy industrial projects across the Greater Toronto Area. This role is based in Mississauga, Thornhill, Whitby or Toronto and reports to the Manager‑Electrical Engineering. Job Opportunity WSP’s Resources subsector, part of the Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) sector, provides end‑to‑end engineering services for industrial and mining projects, from concept through to closure and dismantling. Job Description As an Intermediate or Senior Electrical Engineer you will lead the design and optimisation of electrical power distribution and control systems for new construction and brownfield heavy‑industrial projects. Your responsibilities include: Safety focused design across hazardous regions (flammable gases, combustible dusts) Power system studies such as load flow, short‑circuit, and arc‑flash analysis using ETAP, Easy Power, and other software Specification and selection of switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and other electrical components Design of power distribution, motor control, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, and related safety systems Execution of engineering calculations and coordination with senior managers for technical decisions Site reviews, project meetings, field inspections, and technical report writing Cost estimating review and client relationship management Mentoring junior staff and supporting team development Optional: control and communication system design, PLC/DCS/HMI programming, and network integration Other duties as assigned What You'll Bring At least 5+ years of electrical engineering design experience in heavy industrial projects Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario; registration in other provinces or states is a benefit Working knowledge of CSA, ANSI, IEEE standards, Ontario Building Code, and other applicable codes Experience with power system modelling software and comprehensive project execution (grounding, lightning, cable support, fire alarm, cathodic protection, etc.) Valid driver’s licence and ability to work on industrial sites and comply with safety regulations Project experience in mills, smelters, mines, refineries, ports, materials handling, pulp & paper, or renewable energy systems is advantageous Knowledge of industrial instrumentation, controls, communications, automation, PLC/DCS/HMI programming, and control system modeling is a benefit Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Team player attitude and ability to work in a project team environment Why WSP?
