The role ensures invoices are accurate, properly approved, processed and paid in a timely manner while complying with internal procedures and requirements. This opportunity is suitable for individuals with diverse experience levels, from recent graduates to seasoned professionals. This role reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor.Key Responsibilities — How You’ll Make an ImpactReceive and process large volume of daily invoices in a timely and accurate mannerCommunicate effectively with suppliers and vendors, while maintaining a high level of professional customer serviceRegularly review supplier statements and invoice listings to ensure timely approval and paymentDemonstrate initiative by supporting changes in duties, self-starting daily tasks, and actively seeking process improvementsPlan and prioritize tasks while maintaining well-organized Accounts Payable files and recordsPerform accurate and efficient invoice data entry into the accounting systemUphold the timely and accurate processing of payables using EFT, cheques, Credit Card and wire payment methodsIf necessary, prepare monthly accruals and Journal Entries for month end closingManage vendor onboarding, including new vendor setups and maintaining existing vendor master dataQualifications & Experience — The Skills You BringExcellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlinesStrong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environmentEffective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholdersFosters a collaborative and respectful team environment by embracing diverse perspectives and ideasCommitted individual with a strong emphasis on integrity, respect, and ethical conductProficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)1–2 years of experience in Accounts Payable or a Finance department preferred, but not requiredDiploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or a related field preferred, but not requiredAt Roots we appreciate that skills and expertise are cultivated through a range of experiences.
