Are you a property tax professional looking for a new challenge in a dynamic, fast paced environment? If so, this job is for you The property tax advisor will be regularly exposed to a wide range of property tax work in the compliance/administration and the advisory/controversy support areas of the function.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Five years of experience in Canadian property tax and assessment preferably in the oil and gas industry.

  • Preference may be given to candidates possessing an assessment/appraisal designation.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite with strong working knowledge of Excel. 

  • Experience with SAP, including S4 HANA, and Itamlink is highly desirable.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize, multi-task and maintain a team focused professional attitude.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with, or leads, annual rendition process for assessment reporting to municipalities and negotiation of settlements with the regulator.

  • Assists with, or leads, property tax administration and day to day compliance functions for payment and reporting of property taxes.

  • Assists with, or directly responds to, tax authority and business partner inquiries.

  • Reviews municipal property tax adjustments for accuracy.

  • Supports team in the assessment preparation and taxation data for new project estimates.

  • Property tax project work as required.

Location and other Key Details:

  • This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs.

  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work.
