Clinic Details — Kelowna General Hospital Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral centre offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. Adjacent to KGH is the brand new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC), BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland. IHSC serves as KGH’s principal surgical site and features 9 specialised operating rooms and 2 cardiac‑dedicated ORs. The state‑of‑the‑art Centennial Building opened recently, boasting 360,000 square feet, an expanded emergency and ambulatory care department, larger operating rooms and a rooftop helipad. KGH is a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC, training Royal College Emergency Medicine Physicians and Family Physicians. With the IHSC, new inpatient units, dedicated psychiatry units, a modern maternity ward and enhanced laboratory and clinical departments, KGH has become one of BC’s leading healthcare centres. Practice Details Fantastic opportunity for a general adult Psychiatrist to join the expanding Psychiatry department at Kelowna General Hospital. Deliver excellence in care within a strong culture of teamwork, providing services to KGH’s 30‑bed inpatient unit, 6‑bed Adult MH Intensive Care Unit, consults to the medical/surgical units and the emergency department, and a community‑based practice. Duties include patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and assistance with development and maintenance of appropriate programs, policies and procedures. Provide intensive case management support for patients with serious and persistent mental illness and opportunities to support the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic or the broader community through telepsychiatry. Offer teaching opportunities to medical students and residents via the UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program affiliation. Access leadership development through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program. Compensation Fee‑for‑Service. Estimated remuneration $250,000 – $400,000, plus MOCAP Level 2 Physician Overhead. Overhead costs associated with private practice only. Benefits and Incentives Relocation funding available $9,000 – $15,000 (based on move location; eligible receipts required; pro‑rated for part‑time opportunities).
