Overview Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is one of two tertiary hospitals within Interior Health and is the region’s main referral center offering a full range of services with approximately 400 beds and over 84,000 ED visits yearly. Adjacent to KGH is the brand new Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC) which opened in 2015 and is BC’s only cardiac critical care centre outside of Victoria and the Lower Mainland. KGH is entering its third year of training Royal College Emergency Medicine Physicians and also participates in training Family Physicians. KGH is a teaching centre for the Southern Medical Program affiliated with UBC. Position Overview Fantastic opportunity for a general adult Psychiatrist to join the expanding Psychiatry department at Kelowna General Hospital. Duties will include, but not be limited to, patient assessment and treatment, collaboration with clinicians and managers, and assistance with the development and maintenance of appropriate programs, policies, and procedures. The role also offers teaching opportunities to medical students and residents as KGH is affiliated with UBC Faculty of Medicine Southern Medical Program. There are multiple opportunities in supporting the Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) clinic or the broader community through telepsychiatry. For those interested, Leadership Development Opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program. Qualifications Applying physician must hold a medical degree, residency in psychiatry, board certification, and be a licensed medical practitioner in British Columbia. Experience in inpatient units, intensive care units, and community-based practice is preferred. Strong communication skills, team orientation, and commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Compensation and Benefits Estimated remuneration $250,000 - $400,000, plus MOCAP level 2 Physician Overhead. Relocation funding available $9,000 - $15,000. Incentives subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer. Other benefits/incentives include combined fee-for-service plus sessions.
