**Location:**Calgary or Medicine Hat, Alberta The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to join its talented team of professionals in the Regulatory Applications (RA) Branch. We are looking for an individual with a passion for Alberta’s water resources. As a Student, Water Reporting Data, you will work within the Science team to audit water reporting data by the energy industry. The team consists of subject matter experts in air, hydrology, hydrogeology, noise, civil engineering, measurement, and technical learning. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn from this diverse group of professionals, as well as other water and data specialists at the AER. Your primary responsibility will be auditing water reporting for energy projects licensed under the Water Resources Act and the Water Act. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain both technical and regulatory experience, engaging with science, legislation, policy, and Alberta’s regulatory framework. You will collaborate with experienced water scientists, interact with other technical professionals, communicate with industry stakeholders, and analyze water usage data.in MS Excel and comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications. Proficiency Proficiency with a Business Intelligence tool such as Tableau or Power BI would be an asset.Experience with GIS mapping applications is an asset. Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative to achieve objectives.The role may offer the opportunity to attend a field visit; completion of any required training is mandatory prior to participation. Should an individual with the required qualifications not be available, applicants with closely related qualifications may be considered.
