Position: Counsellor/Therapist 2 (ClinicalCare Program) – Temporary (6 months) The ClinicalCare Program is recruiting a full-time temporary (6 months) Counsellor/Therapist 2 to work in the Crisis Critical Care Treatment Units at the Queen Street Site. Reporting to the manager, the successful candidate will: Have knowledge of crisis intervention and group treatment modalities, as well as mental health/substance use assessment and treatment. Identify and address psychosocial issues in both individual and group sessions. Function as part of an interprofessional team, acting as a resource person and delivering relevant services to clients, their families and others. Participate in the assessment and treatment process and engage clients in a discharge planning process through individual and group sessions. Provide supportive counselling to patients and their families. Lead existing groups and collaboratively develop new group programming. Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives, research and educational activities, program development, and capacity‑building activities. Provide supervision for master’s level students. Support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all regulatory and legislative requirements. Other related duties may be assigned as required. This position offers ample opportunities for formal and informal training and education. Minimum Requirements Master's degree in psychology, social work, or occupational therapy. Preferred 3 years of clinical experience in the provision of mental health and/or addictions treatment. Experience on an inpatient unit is an asset. Registered member in good standing with a regulated health care discipline (e.g., CRPO, OCSWSSW, COTO, CPO) and proof of registration. Experience in acute care of clients with a range of psychiatric diagnoses. Sound knowledge of DSM‑IV diagnoses, crisis intervention theory and techniques. Experience in providing instrumental assistance, facilitating psycho‑educational/supportive counselling and groups. Experience with motivational interviewing, CBT and DBT modalities is an asset. Demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced interprofessional clinical environment. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of technology to enhance communication and learning. Ability to meet deadlines.
