Select a job title to view the description and apply online Program Assistant - Crisis Critical Care Treatment Unit 4 The Clinical Care Program is currently seeking a full‑time, permanent Program Assistant to work on Crisis Critical Care Unit 4. This is an exciting and unique professional opportunity You will help contribute to development of programming and clinical processes. The model of care on the unit emphasizes treatment of concurrent disorders and patient engagement in therapeutic programming, offering opportunities for capacity building and skill development. Responsibilities Work with clients from diverse backgrounds experiencing a variety of mental health issues and addiction. Contribute to the safety, organization and optimal function of the inpatient unit and promote maintenance of the therapeutic milieu, under the direction of the clinical staff. Contribute to and participate in the assessment of designated clients and provide direct client care. Accompany clients off site for medical clearance and for any other transfers/appointments as deemed necessary. Communicate both verbally and in writing behavioural observations, assessments and clients’ responses to care interventions. Assume an active role in maintaining both dynamic and static security elements of the unit. Support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements. Qualifications Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an inter‑professional team environment. Reliable, cooperative and client‑focused, as well as a motivated team player who shows initiative. Experience working with clients from diverse ethno‑racial and cultural backgrounds, teams and stakeholders. Demonstrated high levels of sensitivity and diplomacy; possesses effective organizational, problem‑solving and communication skills. Secondary School diploma or equivalent. Preference given to candidates with at least one year of experience in a health‑care related field. Possession of or enrolment in a Personal Care Worker Certificate or a certificate/diploma/degree in a health‑care discipline. CPR certification considered an asset. Ability to work with diverse clients and staff is required. Familiarity with clinical care and issues specific to mental health and/or addictions settings preferred. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language considered an asset. This position involves shift rotation, including weekend work, at the Queen Street Site with twelve (12) hour shifts. This full‑time, permanent position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit. CAMH is a fully affiliated teaching hospital and research institute of the University of Toronto.
