Staff Accountant An industry-leading veterinary distribution company is looking to add a Staff Accountant to their team The Role As a Staff Accountant, you will provide strategic planning support, prepare audits, and be exposed to complex financial reporting. You Will Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or other applicable standards. Manage and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring proper reconciliations of bank statements, sub-ledgers, and accruals. Monitor account activity for accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly. Conduct variance analysis and identify financial trends and risks. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to finance leadership. Support internal and external audit processes, including documentation and audit trail preparation. Prepare and/or review tax filings (e.g., HST/GST, corporate income tax), ensuring compliance with current legislation. Assist with the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and cost control initiatives. You Have 4+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a mid- to large-sized organization Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline CPA designation is preferred Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant financial regulations Proficient with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems. Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with large data sets and create financial models. You Are An excellent communicator (verbal and written) with solid people skills Organized with superior time management skills Analytical, with solid problem-solving and decision-making skills Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Seniority level Associate Employment type Full-time Job function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industries Veterinary Services Location & Salary London, Ontario, Canada.
