An industry-leading veterinary distribution company is looking to add a
Staff Accountant
to their team

The Role

As a Staff Accountant, you will provide strategic planning support, prepare audits, and be exposed to complex financial reporting.

You Will

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP or other applicable standards.
  • Manage and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring proper reconciliations of bank statements, sub-ledgers, and accruals.
  • Monitor account activity for accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Conduct variance analysis and identify financial trends and risks.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to finance leadership.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, including documentation and audit trail preparation.
  • Prepare and/or review tax filings (e.g., HST/GST, corporate income tax), ensuring compliance with current legislation.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and cost control initiatives.

You Have

  • 4+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a mid- to large-sized organization
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • CPA designation is preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant financial regulations
  • Proficient with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work with large data sets and create financial models.
