JOB TITLE SUPERVISOR COMPETITION # 2023-104 NATIONAL OCCUPATION CODE 40030 POSITION TYPE PERMANENT, FULL-TIME OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Director of Youth Transitions Services, the Supervisor provides oversight, guidance, and support to Memengwaa Home, our female-identified youth placement located at 257 Manitoba Avenue. This position ensures the safe and effective operations of the home, in line with program guidelines and organization policies and procedures. KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Provide supervision to Youth Transition workers, support workers, and other housing support team members.
  • Facilitate team meetings including file reviews, staff supervisory meetings, programming meetings, etc.
  • Coach and mentor staff on job-related skills; identify and coordinate training needs when needed.
  • If required, implement disciplinary measures in line with the policies of the organization.
  • Create staff schedules; review and sign off on timesheets.
  • Participate in recruitment process including identifying job needs, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Review and authorize leave requests and scheduling for full time staff.
  • Oversee placement process.
    • Ensure placement availability is communicated.
    • Receive and review referrals.
    • Coordinate intakes with Youth worker, SECFS, other supports.
    • Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and stats maintained.
  • Ensure appropriate and effective file management procedures are implemented.
  • Ensure group programming is being offered in line with the goals of the organization and program; approve and oversee appropriate program spending.
  • Provide consultation and support to staff in addressing complex youth situations such as addictions, mental illness, and other traumas.
  • Provide crisis support to staff and tenants as required.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with partners and other community organizations to help build the program and support youth.
  • Support staff to utilize HIFIS and participate in working groups as needed.
  • Train staff in stats, reporting, and HIFIS protocols and ensure all stats and reports are submitted from team members within appropriate timelines.
  • Complete monthly reports to management; ensure issues and program needs are reported to management on a regular, ongoing basis.
  • Provide occasional after-hours on-call supports.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of post-secondary training in human services field and 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of the CFS and EIA system and legislation; lived experience a definite asset.
  • Experience in the housing and homelessness sector an asset.
  • Satisfactory PCC, Child Abuse, Adult Abuse and Criminal record check including vulnerable sector search.
  • Must have valid MB class 5 Drivers license and access to a vehicle.
  • ASIST, NVCI, First Aid CPR, and other related trainings an asset.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Indigenous perspectives, First Nations culture and traditional philosophies.
  • Ability to work with addictions, mental illness, and trauma from a culturally based and strengths-based perspective.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent leadership skills an absolute requirement.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to network for the benefit of the program and youth.
  • Strong oral/written communication skills; excellent documentation skills.
  • Time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to speak Anishinaabe an asset.
