Title Physiotherapist/Physical Therapist - es zúmin’ Primary Care Centre (0.5 FTE) Salary $88,948 - $104,644 - $120,341 per year (pay range explained below) Contract This position is a term position with the FNHA ending 6/20/2026 with a possibility of an extension. When the term position ends with the FNHA, it is intended that this position will be offered as a permanent role with the es zúmin’ Primary Care Clinic. Hours 18.75 hours per week Location Mount Currie, BC, with frequent travel to the Southern Stl'atl'imx communities, which are up to 3 hours away by road. FNPCI Initiative The First Nations-led Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to primary health-care services for First Nations people across BC in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home. The FNPCI is part of the province’s primary care strategy, which is integrating team-based care in communities throughout B.C. and changing the way primary care is delivered with the creation of primary care networks in partnership with the Regional Health Authorities. In order to meet the health and wellness needs of First Nations people, it is very important that primary care is culturally safe and culturally informed where Indigenous ways of knowing and being are woven into services. One of the main objectives of the FNPCI is to develop new First Nations Primary Health Care Centers in rural and urban locations across the province. The centers will provide access to culturally safe, quality primary health care services for First Nations people and their families. The aim is for clients to feel safe, welcomed, valued, respected and heard when they access care services at one of these centers. About The Centre The es zúmin’ Primary Care Centre (PCC) provides culturally safe, trauma-informed primary care services to the Líl?wat, N’Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin and Xa’xtsa First Nations communities. es zúmin’ means “to care for”, and the es zúmin’ PCC is a place to provide holistic care for people, incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing and being in all our services. Located in the Líl’wat Health Pqusnalhcw Health Centre (11092 Blackbear Road, Mt. Currie) and the Southern Stl’atl’imx Health Society (SSHS) main building (321 IR10 Road Road, Mt. Currie), and with mobile clinics providing services in N’Quatqua, Samahquam, Skatin, and Xa’xtsa, the es zúmin’ PCC provides a safe space for First Nations people and their families to seek high-quality primary care services. About The Role At the es zúmin’ PCC, and in collaboration with its multi-disciplinary team, the Physiotherapist/Physical Therapist assesses the impact of injuries, diseases, or movement disorders to promote, restore, and prolong physical independence by enhancing clients' functional capacity. Provides care and service that meets the standards for Physical Therapists within the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia (CPTBC). Works within the scope of practice for Physical Therapists as determined by relevant legislation. About You Education Completion of a recognized Master’s degree in Physical Therapy Advanced training in threat/risk assessment and/or trauma response Occupational Certification Current practicing registration with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia Current CPR Certification Eligible for membership in the Physiotherapy Association of BC Experience Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical experience Experience delivering health services in a First Nations setting Knowledge Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations Knowledge of concepts, principles and theories of trans-cultural health care, including knowledge of traditional, homeopathic, or other healing practices used in the community Knowledge of First Nations cultures and backgrounds, and the understanding of how culture impacts on communication patterns, and attitudes and approaches to health issues Knowledge of health status of populations, inequities in health, the determinants of health and illness, principals of primary care, disease and injury prevention, health protection Knowledge of the scope of practice of other health care disciplines Benefits Municipal Pension plan with an employer contribution of 9.31% (after 3 months) 3 weeks’ vacation, which increases with service to 4 weeks, plus 5 personal days, 1 volunteer day, and 14 public holidays including National Indigenous People’s Day, National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, Easter Monday and Boxing Day Access to group health benefits and a Health Care Spending Account through Canada Life on day 1 of employment And more The First Nations Health Authority is committed to respecting diversity within our workforce; preference will be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis. The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours. Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements. The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level.
