- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, financial analysis, and statements to ensure they meet accuracy and completeness standards.
- Provide valuable insights on financial transactions, accounting treatments, and process improvements to enhance overall financial operations.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, ensuring a smooth process and timely responses to audit requests and inquiries.
- Oversee share repurchase calculations, accounting entries, and payments, ensuring accuracy in tax slip preparation.
- Ensure tax filings and accounting entries are aligned with established accounting practices, company policies, and applicable legislative requirements.
- Oversee correspondence with external tax advisors to provide information for preparing Canadian and US federal and provincial/state tax returns, year-end tax provisions, and transfer pricing studies. Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns and installments.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to maintain the chart of accounts and optimize ERP/accounting processes, ensuring alignment with business needs and reporting standards.
- Review and approve cheques, wires, and EFT payments in accordance with company policies and internal controls, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
- Lead or participate in financial accounting projects, ensuring deliverables are met according to project requirements and deadlines.
- Establish internal deadlines and allocate workload among accounting team members, providing troubleshooting support and feedback to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Mentor and develop accounting team members, conducting performance reviews, providing guidance, and supporting professional growth.
- Promote a customer-focused culture, aligned with the company's core values, to enhance the overall experience for both internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
