Title: Technology Architect - Intermediate

Location: Peterborough, ON (Hybrid)

Duration: 3+ Months Contract with 12 Months possible extension.


Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, recommend, implement and manage the technical architecture (hardware, software, database and communications) which will be used for all or specific applications in a large, distributed cross-platform environment.
  2. Identify relevant information and determine the environment for development.

General Skills:

  • Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical architectures.
  • Extensive experience with at least three different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communications protocols.
  • Experience with middleware and gateways.
  • Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments.
  • Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications.
  • Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments.
  • Knowledge and experience designing processes around ITIL.
  • Experience translating business requirements into reporting needs.
  • Experience preparing conceptual, logical and/or physical processes and data models.
  • Experience developing, recommending, implementing and managing technical architecture.
  • Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and other software tools such as project management tools.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies, trends and directions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables based on Ontario Government Enterprise Architecture processes and practice.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Content Management (Open Text ECM applications).
  • Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of P25 radio technology acquired through a minimum of eight (8) years of design and/or support.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a supervisory position managing and/or administering a P25 radio network.
  • Hands-on experience with voice and data encryption equipment.
  • Hands-on experience using Client ZoneWatch, the Provisioning Manager software and Unified Event Manager or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in producing various reports related to the LRC use of the LMRN.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and people skills.
  • Ability to produce clear, succinct and fact-based recommendations and proposals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, schedule, delegate and review the work of subordinates.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships.
  • Able to obtain OPP Level 4 Security Clearance.

Selection Criteria:

Technical Experience - 60

  • Subject Matter Expert in all facets of Encryption related to Public Safety.
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure modernization and maintenance focused projects.
  • Extensive experience with IP Networks, Telephony, and Satellite systems.

Communication Experience - 35

  • Experience communicating technical concepts to Client audiences.
  • Experience negotiating / resolving project direction to achieve consensus.
  • Experience collaborating with stakeholders, Business Analysts and project management.

IT Public Sector Experience - 5

  • Experience in the design and implementation of large telecommunication networks, both IP and Public Safety Radio, within public sector environments.

Must Have:

  • 10 years of experience as Technology Architect.
  • Subject Matter Expert in all facets of Encryption related to Public Safety.
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure modernization and maintenance focused projects.
  • Extensive experience with IP Networks, Telephony, and Satellite systems.

Nice to have:

  • Public sector experience.
