Role Overview

As a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will play a vital role in helping Metergy achieve its strategic and operational goals related to people and culture. This position combines strategic planning with hands-on, tactical execution. You will collaborate closely with leaders across all levels of the organization to support their teams' success.

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, you will join a team of HR professionals working together to enhance employee experiences and contribute to the company's growth objectives. This role requires you to work from our Markham office three days a week.

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Work alongside the VP, HR and your HR peers to develop and execute various people initiatives throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Act as a cultural ambassador, fostering a positive, inclusive work environment and promoting company values.
  • Build strong relationships with leaders, understanding their business priorities and providing expertise and support to achieve them.
  • Partner with people leaders to improve work relations, build morale, and enhance employee retention and engagement.
  • Guide and advise people leaders on talent development, performance management, recognition and engagement practices.
  • Provide trusted counsel and support to leaders in resolving employee relations matters, promptly and effectively.
  • Offer frontline support to leaders and employees regarding HR policies, pay practices and benefit programs.
  • Work with leaders to successfully onboard and offboard employees.
  • Facilitate the annual performance review and merit/bonus award processes.
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement of HR policies, processes and programs to support business growth and position Metergy as a top employer.
  • Create and deliver education sessions to people leaders and teams.
  • Oversee the management of leaves of absence and returns-to-work.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws, company policy, and industry regulations while maintaining accurate employee records and managing HR documentation.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of immigration process, including visa applications, renewals and compliance.
  • Coordinate and support safety and wellness programs and activities.

Experience and qualifications:

  • University graduate with relevant human resources experience gained in a HR Business Partner role in a scaling product or service-based organization.
  • Ability to take full accountability for leading clients through diverse human resources initiatives and situations.
  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills to encourage clients to make the right decisions for the company and its people.
  • Positive outlook and energetic disposition in interactions.
  • Expertise in advising and supporting people leaders in performance management, employee relations, and talent development.
  • Critical thinker curiosity-driven approach, asking intelligent questions to obtain information, identify root causes, and determine business solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead programs or initiatives from planning to implementation.
  • Capacity to manage a high volume of work with competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Track record of effectively multi-tasking and staying organized while meeting deadlines and handling urgent business needs.
  • Outstanding professional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and at leadership levels.
  • Skilled at navigating conflict, managing sensitive situations, mediating, and facilitating discussions at the senior leadership level.
  • In-depth understanding of employment standards and applicable employment legislation across Canada.
  • Solid judgment and integrity handling highly sensitive information while ensuring compliance, and confidentiality.
  • Data-driven with strong analytical skills. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and experienced with HRIS. Dayforce experience would be an asset but not required.
