As Assistant Plant Manager, you will lead day-to-day plant operations, ensuring quality, safety, efficiency, and on-time performance across all departments. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you will oversee production, logistics, scheduling, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives all while maintaining a sharp eye on KPIs, staffing, cost control, and team performance. If you’re a proactive, hands-on leader who can pivot between high-level planning and floor-level execution, we want to hear from you.Primary ResponsibilitiesOversee and coordinate daily production activities to ensure throughput, quality, and schedule adherence.Ensure all production lines and departments are fully staffed, organized, and following standard operating procedures.Monitor shift performance, daily targets, and production reports; address downtime, shortages, and delays in real time.Conduct regular floor walks to review output, safety compliance, and cleanliness across all workstations.Review and adjust work schedules to meet delivery timelines and customer requirements.Track and report daily/weekly KPIs: productivity, scrap, rework, downtime, on-time delivery, and labor efficiency.Analyze production trends and report performance to the Director of Operations.Identify root causes of performance gaps and implement corrective actions.Collaborate with Quality Control to ensure product meets specifications and standards.Identify bottlenecks, workflow inefficiencies, or process gaps and lead initiatives to improve them.Collaborate with maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize unplanned downtime.Implement 5S, Lean, or continuous improvement practices to increase floor productivity and reduce waste.Supervise and support production supervisors and leads across departments.Coach, mentor, and develop your team ensuring strong communication and clear expectations at every level.Conduct performance check-ins and support employee development and discipline as needed.Lead cross-training efforts and build department backup plans for schedule flexibility.Work closely with shipping/receiving, scheduling, and purchasing teams to ensure smooth material flow and no production interruptions.Monitor back orders, inventory availability, and material usage.Provide input on forecasting, raw material needs, and resource planning.Promote and enforce all health & safety standards; ensure all workers follow PPE protocols and safe work practices.Participate in Health & Safety committee meetings and support accident prevention initiatives.Conduct plant safety inspections and ensure compliance with WSIB, ESA, and other applicable regulations.Knowledge & Skills Requirements5–7 years of operations/production management experience in a manufacturing environment (windows & doors experience is a strong asset).Strong leadership and communication skills; you lead by example and keep your teams informed and aligned.Proven ability to monitor KPIs, analyze production data, and make informed operational decisions.Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, MS Office (especially Excel), and production scheduling tools.Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, ESA standards, and quality control processes.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and stay organized under pressure.Hands-on and proactive; not afraid to get on the floor and support your teams when needed.Education & ExperienceDiploma or Degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or a related field.Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other CI methodologies is an asset.Mechanical aptitude or exposure to window/door fabrication processes is considered a plus.Why Stage Windows & DoorsCompetitive Salary: We offer a salary that reflects your experience and expertise.100% Employer-Paid Benefits upon successful completion of probation.Opportunities for growth and career advancement.Dynamic Work Environment: Enjoy an engaging and supportive company culture where teamwork and safety are prioritized.We recognize and reward hard work, innovation, and commitment to excellence.We thank all interested candidates for applying.
