Summary: Under the general direction of the Vice President & General Manager of Canada, the Plant Manager (PLM) position is responsible for directing and managing all plant operations. This position has overall responsibility for production at its manufacturing facility and for driving JELD-WEN’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities and initiatives in direct support of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement for their product line. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct all plant operations in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement and KPIs. Coordinate all plant activities with Production and Departmental Managers to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost‑effective and efficient manner using LEAN processes. Develop, control, plan, and implement the plant budget to maximize profits using SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and CI initiatives. Implement cost‑effective systems of control over operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries, and manage capital asset/improvement projects. Establish and monitor overall plant performance for safety, production and quality standards, working closely with CI Managers and CI & Safety Teams. Control and minimize labor, overtime, premium freight and repair expenses. Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; request adjustments or replacements as needed. Work closely with R&D and other Administrative Support Departments in testing and implementing new materials and product lines. Coordinate plant and production activities through strategic planning with Production Manager, Coordinating Managers and Group Managers and the VP & GM of Canada to ensure alignment with mission and KPIs. Oversee the implementation of safety and preventative maintenance programs, driving safety procedures and plant cleanliness. Incorporate shop‑floor organization with Process Engineering personnel to ensure efficient production processes. Provide leadership and training to achieve corporate goals, KPIs and objectives. Develop and lead managerial personnel. Hire, train, develop and appraise staff effectively; take corrective action as needed; consult with HR, Legal and Corporate offices when required. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field and at least seven (7) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the door, window and/or lumber industries with preference for door pre‑hanging experience. Advanced knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and CI methodologies. Strong knowledge of business, finance, quality control systems and standards. Advanced leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to drive manufacturing process improvement techniques throughout production. A team player who can coach and mentor managerial personnel and instill JELD‑WEN’s Mission and cultural values in all plant personnel. Superior motivational skills and ability to train and drive CI methods and initiatives into managers and subordinates. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with corporate personnel, managers and plant personnel. Advanced understanding of JELD‑WEN’s KPIs, corporate goals, profit margins and objectives. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to present information and respond to questions from corporate, groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other position‑applicable software applications. Strong knowledge of plant and provincial health and safety standards and compliance. Travel: up to 15% ±.
