With our awesome team of knowledgeable and passion-driven individuals, AFM is equipped with an environment that will allow youtosucceed at the highest level and we want you to be part of our team.We are expanding our Field Installations division and are currently seeking a highly motivated and committed new apprentice for the role of Conveyor Belt Splicer Trainee.Job SummaryAs our newest apprentice, you will work directly with our lead technicians at customer sites, learning the trade and the skills necessary for you to become a leadtech yourself. You’ll travel regularly to visit quarries, mines, and cement plants, locally and possibly internationally, and ensure that all our customers are up and running again as quickly and efficiently as possible.Core CompetenciesPlanning & OrganizingDependability, Reliability, Team PlayerRigging, Cutting, Lifting and PunchingSafely Operate hand tools & power toolsHandling heavy LoadsHand-eye CoordinationResponsibilities and DutiesPerform and/or assist with heavy-duty conveyor belt installation & vulcanizationWork in the warehouse as directed when outside service work is unavailableAccurately complete appropriate paperworkDrive a company service vehicleWork on-call hours, evening & weekendsTravel required, including occasional international travelSome overnight travel will be requiredThis position will require you to be reachable by phone on evenings & weekendsMust be available to work assigned shifts that will, from time to time, include Saturdays and SundaysRequired Education, Skills, and QualificationsGeneral mechanical aptitudeSkills such as rigging, cutting, welding, etc. an assetEager to learn, willing to work long hours, available for emergency breakdowns on-call service 24/7 when required.Experience working in an industrial environmentExperience working outdoors (cold, heat, noise) in a physically demanding rolePreference may be given to candidates with millwright experienceForklift operation experience is an assetValid Ontario Drivers License and clean abstractAbility to lift 60+ lbs. with the assistance of another personStrong work ethic, self-motivated, a go-getter; interested in career developmentWhat We OfferCompetitive wageHealth BenefitAnnual Performance BonusRetirement Savings PlanOpportunities for career development and promotionsAwesome team of knowledgeable and passion-driven individualExciting and Challenging workDiversity & InclusionWe value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply.
