Energy Modelling Specialist

We are currently looking for an Energy Modelling Specialist (EM&V) to join our Customer Experience & Innovation team in a permanent position. This role will join a dynamic group of data professionals responsible for tasks related to analysis of customer data, electricity sales and demand requirements. We are looking for candidates that want to play a leading role in enabling the energy transition and have the skillsets to help advance our understanding of the Nova Scotia energy system as we transition to a cleaner energy future.
- Develop modelling processes, compile data requirements, and prepare reporting for EM&V of various customer programs, rates, and pilots.
- Utilize big data relating to energy consumption, system data, weather patterns, technology, demographics and interaction data to create deeply accurate and actionable business insights and reporting.
- Collaborate with other data and analytics professionals in the development of an internal data warehouse, KPI reporting and dashboards using a variety of data visualization software, trend analysis and other ad-hoc reporting.
- Identify availability and suitability of data required to solve business questions including sourcing, maintaining, and managing multiple dimension data.
These skills will make you successful:
- Education: undergraduate degree in business, statistics, engineering or computer science. A Master’s degree or professional designation is considered an asset but not required.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a data analytics role that encompasses research, modeling or statistical analysis.
- Experience with Excel and tools such as MATLAB, Python, R, Tableau, ADX, etc.
- Data visualization experience with knowledge of Power BI or Tableau and/or other visual analytics tools.
- Strong communication, presentation and business and technical writing skills.
- Ease with the concepts of quantitative business, statistical modelling and machine learning considered an asset.
- Experience with fixed effects regression modelling techniques is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of the industry sector is also considered an asset.
