05 Nov 2025Gas Detection TechnicianFort McMurray, ABAgilus is recruiting for a Gas Detection Technician in the Oil and Gas Sector in Fort McMurray, Alberta.Maintain and service Approx. 550 NIOSH/NFPA SCBA and RSBA packs and all associated equipment IE: washing masks, disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble regulators, replace air cylinders, recharge air cylinders, inspect and roll breathing air hoseA typical day:Manage the loan out process of breathing air equipmentComplete the annual regulatory change out of all SCBA/RSBA packs utilized in the upgraderFacilitate the shipping of breathing air cylinders due for hydro testing and update tracking sheetsManage the inventory of the fire extinguishers required for annual regulatory change outs across Base Mine and Aurora siteMaintain and service leased gas detectors and docking stations located across Base mine and Aurora siteProvide turnaround support by setting up and verifying settings are correct for rental gas detection equipment in 4-6 permit locations with a combined total of 4-500 pieces of equipmentComplete change outs and placements of temporary area gas detectors throughout the upgrader as part of the loan out processSuccessful candidates will have:Technical knowledge of gas detection instruments and calibration proceduresFamiliarity with safety protocols in industries such as oil & gas, chemical processing, or manufacturingCertifications such as SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) servicing, confined space entry, or H2S Alive may be required depending on the employerAbility to read technical manuals and schematicsTotal rewards:Competitive CompensationMon to Fri - 40 hours per week, completely onsite roleFort McMurray locationContract until Dec 2026
