Reporting to the Vice-President (Administration), the Associate Vice-President (Finance) leads all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, planning, budgeting, treasury, procurement, and distribution. In this pivotal role, you will steward the financial health and integrity of the University, safeguarding its assets and maintaining its fiscal viability.

As a member of the University’s senior leadership team and a resource to the Board of Governors, this position develops and implements financial strategies as well as anticipates industry trends in support of the institution’s goals using a holistic approach, with a focus on the student experience and integrating technology as a tool. Your ability to establish and maintain relationships with senior leadership, government officials, and other stakeholders is crucial in meeting the expectations of this AVP position.Dynamic and Inclusive Workplace: We value diversity and inclusivity. What You’ll Bring to this Position:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field is required and preference is given to those holding a relevant Master’s degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of senior management experience within financial operations.

  • In-depth knowledge of financial concepts, including budgeting, debt financing, cash flow management, and investment.
  • Understanding of taxation rules, risk management, and insurance industry practices.
  • Knowledge of best practices and technological advancements in financial and supply management operations in a complex environment.
  • Experience in external audit, financial reporting, and managing financial controls within a complex environment.
  • Strategic planning, management, and leadership skills in a high-profile public setting.
  • Politically astute, capable of managing divergent interests.
  • Ability to develop strong alliances and working networks across the organization and with all levels of leadership.
