The role The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, and distribution. This role ensures efficient and effective warehouse processes, maintains high standards of safety and quality, and manages a team of warehouse staff. The Warehouse Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that the warehouse operates smoothly, meets productivity targets, and supports the overall business objectives. Key Responsibilities Warehouse Operations Management Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and shipping. Develop and implement efficient warehouse processes and procedures to optimize productivity and accuracy. Ensure timely and accurate processing of incoming and outgoing shipments. Inventory Management Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize stock‑outs. Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy. Implement inventory control measures to prevent loss, damage, and discrepancies. Team Leadership and Development Supervise and manage a team of warehouse staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities for team members. Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies. Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions. Warehouse Layout and Organization Design and maintain an efficient warehouse layout to optimize space utilization and workflow. Ensure proper labeling and organization of inventory for easy identification and access. Implement best practices for material handling and storage. Performance Monitoring and Reporting Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track warehouse performance and productivity. Generate regular reports on warehouse operations, inventory levels, and performance metrics. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed. Technology and Systems Management Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technologies to streamline operations. Ensure accurate and timely data entry into WMS and other relevant systems. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance warehouse operations. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse management or a similar role. Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software. Hands‑on experience with: Regulatory audits or inspections Transportation Certifications TDG Certification (Transportation of Dangerous Goods – Canada) IATA DGR Certificate (for air transport) IMDG Code Training (for sea freight) Additional Safety Certifications WHMIS 2015 (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System – Canada) Spill Response Training Emergency Response Planning Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities. Proficiency in warehouse management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Inventory accuracy rate. Order fulfillment accuracy and timeliness. Warehouse productivity metrics (e.g., pick rate, shipping rate). Safety incident rate. Inventory turnover ratio. Employee performance and retention rates. This position works in a daily basis, in a warehouse environment. Require occasional lifting of materials and products. Involve operating warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
