Job Title: Safety and Health Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Safety and Health Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing workplace health and safety programs across all operations at our Montreal site. This includes our chemical production labs, injection molding lines, warehouse and logistics areas, and material handling operations involving forklifts and DG/hazardous materials. The role ensures regulatory compliance (federal, provincial, and ISO), promotes a culture of safety, and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Management

  • Develop and maintain site-specific safety policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with CNESST, WHMIS, TDG, and ISO standards.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with safety regulations for chemical manufacturing, hazardous materials handling, and high-risk equipment (e.g., injection molding machines, forklifts).
  • Conduct hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and implement control measures.
  • Lead regular safety inspections, risk audits, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Manage the company's Dangerous Goods classification, labeling, and transportation processes.

Incident Prevention & Investigation

  • Act as lead investigator for all incidents, near misses, and injuries; track corrective actions and lessons learned.
  • Maintain and analyze safety data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor and document PPE usage, safety signage, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space procedures.

Training & Communication

  • Coordinate safety training programs (new hire orientation, WHMIS, TDG, forklift certification, chemical hygiene, etc.).
  • Serve as a resource for site leadership and employees on health and safety concerns.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership and cross-functional engagement.

Regulatory & ISO Compliance

  • Ensure alignment with ISO 9001/17025 standards and internal audit requirements.
  • Coordinate external safety audits, certifications, and regulatory inspections.
  • Keep up to date with evolving regulations from Transport Canada, ECCC, CNESST, and other authorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • Certifications (preferred):
  • ASP or CRSP designation
  • TDG Certification
  • WHMIS Trainer certification
  • Forklift safety instructor qualification
  • ISO internal auditor training

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in a similar safety role within chemical manufacturing, injection molding, and/or warehousing environments.
  • Proven experience handling Dangerous Goods and hazardous chemicals.
  • Working knowledge of forklift operations, material handling best practices, and warehouse safety.

Key Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian OHS regulations (CNESST, WHMIS, TDG, etc.)
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / ISO 17025 compliance
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis (RCA) methods
  • Excellent communication and training skills
  • Analytical, organized, and proactive problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to influence safety behavior at all organizational levels
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is strongly preferred

Titre du poste : Coordonnateur(trice) Santé et Sécurité

Le/la Coordonnateur(trice) Santé et Sécurité est responsable de l'élaboration, de la mise en œuvre et du maintien des programmes de santé et sécurité au travail pour l'ensemble du site de Montréal. Ce rôle couvre les zones de production chimique, les lignes de moulage par injection, les entrepôts et les opérations de manutention impliquant des chariots élévateurs et des matières dangereuses. Il/elle veille à la conformité réglementaire (provinciale, fédérale, ISO) et à la promotion d'une culture de sécurité durable.

Responsabilités principales

Gestion du programme de santé et sécurité

  • Élaborer et maintenir les politiques et procédures SST conformes aux exigences de la CNESST, du SIMDUT, du TMD et des normes ISO.
  • Assurer la conformité en matière de manipulation de produits chimiques, de transport de marchandises dangereuses et d'opérations à haut risque (moulage par injection, entreposage, chariots élévateurs).
  • Réaliser des analyses de risques, des évaluations de poste et mettre en place des mesures correctives.
  • Mener des inspections régulières, audits internes, et simulations d'urgence.
  • Gérer l'étiquetage, le classement et le transport des matières dangereuses (Dangerous Goods).

Prévention et gestion des incidents

  • Diriger les enquêtes d'incidents, quasi-accidents et blessures, et assurer le suivi des actions correctives.
  • Tenir à jour les registres SST et analyser les tendances pour identifier les opportunités d'amélioration.
  • Superviser les programmes de cadenassage, d'espaces clos, d'équipements de protection individuelle (ÉPI) et de signalisation.

Formation et communication

  • Organiser les formations SST : accueil des nouveaux employés, SIMDUT, TMD, chariots élévateurs, hygiène chimique, etc.
  • Agir comme personne-ressource pour les employés et les gestionnaires.
  • Promouvoir une culture SST active et participative.

Conformité réglementaire et ISO

  • Assurer la conformité aux normes ISO 9001 / 17025 et appuyer les audits internes et externes.
  • Coordonner les inspections réglementaires (CNESST, Transports Canada, ECCC).
  • Veille réglementaire continue et mise à jour des pratiques en fonction des lois en vigueur.

Exigences du poste

  • Formation : Diplôme en santé et sécurité, hygiène industrielle, environnement ou discipline connexe.
  • Certifications souhaitées :
  • ASP ou CRSP
  • Certificat TMD
  • Formateur SIMDUT
  • Instructeur chariot élévateur
  • Auditeur ISO (atout)
  • Expérience :
  • Minimum 5 ans dans un rôle similaire dans un environnement manufacturier chimique, de moulage plastique et/ou d'entreposage.
  • Expérience prouvée avec des matières dangereuses et marchandises réglementées (Dangerous Goods).
  • Connaissance des équipements de manutention, entrepôts et opérations avec chariots élévateurs.

Compétences clés
