Lambton Golf and Country Club, founded in 1902, is a prestigious year-round private club located in Toronto that offers a high standard of golf, tennis, social, and dining experiences for our members and their families.

It offers 27 holes of Reese Jones-designed World calibre championship golf, five best-in-class year-round tennis courts, and a modern and inviting Clubhouse. The state-of-the-art facilities make it easy to forget that Lambton is a Club with more than a century of rich traditions and memories.

Lambton’s tennis facility features five Har-Tru clay courts, which serve up a premiere year-round tennis experience for players of every level. Whether an avid competitor or an eager novice, there is a suite of programs and activities for all players – including men’s, women’s and mixed events. Lambton is also an active participant in Toronto’s inter-club tennis scene.

Job Description

The Director of Tennis Operations is responsible for overseeing and managing all key aspects of the Club’s Tennis program and operations. Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage both operational and administrative duties of the Tennis Department.
  • Build and sustain strong professional relationships with Club members.
  • Act as point of contact for member inquiries in a confident and approachable manner.
  • Be accessible to the members in order to deliver world-class service.
  • Coordinate the schedules of all Tennis Professionals and Tennis desk staff.
  • Lead a team of Tennis Department staff who embody Lambton’s standards and values.
  • Ensure that rules and regulations are adhered to by tennis staff, members, and their guests.
  • Enforce policies and procedure regarding court bookings and court usage.
  • Create, develop, and oversee a wide range of tennis programs that accommodate players at both the recreational and competitive levels.
  • Plan, promote, and execute tennis events.
  • Oversee budgets related to the Tennis Department and monitor financial performance.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding clinics and billing.
  • Ensure the tennis facility is commensurate with a Tier One Club.
  • Responsible for being up to date on the rules and regulations of the Club.
  • Attend management and leadership meetings. (currently bi-weekly)
  • Actively participate in tennis committee meetings
  • Provide direction to court maintenance staff

Requirements/Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a senior management role.
  • A degree in sports administration or sports management.
  • Minimum Coach 2 and/ or Club Pro 2. Coach 3 and/or Club Pro 3 are preferred but not necessary. The chosen candidate must obtain their Coach 3 and/or Club Pro 3 during their employment at Lambton.
  • A self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, with minimal supervision.
  • Successful track record of developing tennis players and teams.
  • Strong customer service approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Community driven with the ability to maintain a positive and inclusive tennis culture.
  • Passion for leading a team and the ability to work cooperatively with others to achieve the goals of the Club.
  • Up to date with current technology and trends
  • Well-connected in the tennis community with a strong knowledge of tennis leagues and the intercounty system
  • Strong connection with the Ontario Tennis Association and Tennis Canada
  • Confident and approachable
  • High level of commitment to the club with the ability to be onsite and accessible to members
  • In-depth knowledge of har-tru tennis court maintenance and care.

Reports To: General Manager/ COO

Direct Reports: Tennis Professionals, Tennis Desk staff, Tennis Court Maintenance staff
