Senior/Intermediate Structural Engineer (Facilities – Ports and Marine)Join to apply for the Senior/Intermediate Structural Engineer (Facilities – Ports and Marine) role at Dillon Consulting Limited.Your opportunity Dillon’s Building Infrastructure group is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Senior/Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our team in St. John’s NL, London ON, Sydney NS, Fredericton or Saint John NB. As a Senior/Intermediate Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, analysis, and management of structural engineering projects for a diverse portfolio of facilities. You will lead project teams, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, code-compliant designs. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact on challenging and rewarding projects.ResponsibilitiesDesign: Provide technical leadership on a variety of structural projects (new builds and renovations) in ports and marine, industrial, and institutional market segments; prepare specifications and details for drawing production; review designs, drawings, and specifications for Code compliance; investigate existing structures and prepare condition assessment reports; review shop drawings and provide field services in design and construction; develop and manage discipline and/or project budgets and schedules; coordinate structural scope with multi-discipline teams.Project Management: Coordinate structural engineering team activities and support project managers/technical staff in multidisciplinary project delivery; optimize operating team productivity and workflow; manage design team activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful completion; coordinate with sub-consultants and clients.Business Development: Lead in providing quality client services within the facilities market; expand Dillon services and cross-sell to institutional, commercial, and industrial clients; contribute to proposals and new business opportunities; travel for business as required.Innovation: Provide technical input to the development and implementation of technical tools; encourage innovation on projects.Learning & Development: Commit to ongoing learning and professional development; contribute to junior staff career development through technical direction, training, and mentoring; contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through professional associations and committees.QualificationsDegree in structural/civil engineering; graduate degree is an asset.Licensed professional engineer in Newfoundland, Ontario, Nova Scotia, or New Brunswick.At least ten years of relevant structural design experience, with emphasis on marine and industrial markets.Proficiency in design activities, including preliminary and detail design drawings, reports, contract documents, and tendering.Knowledge of applicable structural engineering codes and standards.Proficiency with STAAD Pro, Risa 3D, StructurePoint; familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Revit; strong Microsoft Office skills; strong technical writing ability.Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and lead teams across different project stages.ExperienceExperience in reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, and structural steel design; preference for steel sheet pile wall design.Experience in wharfs, ports and marine infrastructure, industrial and commercial facility projects, water/wastewater facilities, and liquid containing structures.Construction contract administration experience is an asset.Why DillonDillon is powered by people who are technically proficient, passionate about socially important projects, and motivated to deliver superior results.
