p>The Opportunity: WSP is currently seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering and Materials Team based in Whitby. As an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer, a day in the life involves time spent in the field, as well as working in the office on projects and assignments related to geotechnical engineering. You will work closely with our professionals, collaborate with industry experts, and work on various large-scale projects throughout Eastern Ontario.

    1. Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and project timelines, as well as lead the planning, field support and completion of geotechnical site investigations;
    2. Perform all aspects of geotechnical investigations for buildings, highways, bridges, dams, tunnels, retaining walls, slope stability, and municipal infrastructure;
    3. Lead and prepare geotechnical studies and engineering reports providing recommendations on various geotechnical aspects in projects, based on studies and project-specific work;
    4. Review and interpret the monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation and testing programs and provide geotechnical design recommendations and parameters for analyses and design of structure foundations through report review and writing;
    5. Provide technical assistance in troubleshooting construction-related problems and assist project managers with quality control or quality assurance testing issues, and attend site visits, meetings, etc. li>
    6. Review construction materials testing and field monitoring of geotechnical aspects of projects;
    7. Work collaboratively with engineering staff on geotechnical consulting projects;
    8. Share technical knowledge across geographical boundaries to foster innovative project solutions;
      1. A bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with Geotechnical emphasis from an accredited university;
      2. Knowledge of standard geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, or other similar software suites would be an asset;
      3. Openness to work away from the office and on project sites from time to time;
      4. Strong track record of managing and completing projects on time and on budget;
      5. Ability to perform critical evaluation of outputs for geotechnical analyses;
      6. Valid Ontario Driver's License.
