Mechanical Lead – Mining & Metal Projects Join Fluor Corporation as a Mechanical Lead responsible for leading mechanical engineering activities on complex mining and metals projects. Responsibilities Lead mechanical engineering activities ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to codes and standards. Translate global strategic initiatives into project-level procedures and apply cost‑competitive execution techniques. Develop and review project scope, estimates, schedules, progress reports, and manpower forecasts. Oversee material key quantities, specifications, design criteria, incorporating health, safety, and environmental considerations. Manage vendor interactions, procurement processes, and technical evaluations. Provide mentorship, supervision, and professional development to engineering teams. Engage in client relations, cross‑discipline coordination, promote Client Service Excellence. Support proposal development, change management, compliance with Operating System Requirements (OSR). Participate in audits, departmental standards development, external technical organizations. Establish equipment requirements, prepare equipment data sheets for mechanical equipment including pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heat‑transfer equipment, etc. Evaluate dimensions, equipment connections, performance, pressure profiles, heat‑transfer rates, off‑design cases. Provide equipment sizing and application support to project development or process. Support material selection for equipment. Develop and revise equipment lists, narrative specifications, equipment standards, general arrangement drawings. Participate in supplier/contractor bid clarification, negotiation, award meetings. Represent mechanical support/advice in model reviews and monitor mechanical equipment layout. Provide consultation during fabrication, witness testing, installation, commissioning, start‑up of equipment. Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering with at least sixteen (16) years of work‑related experience. Minimum 5+ years of experience in mining and metals projects; at least 5 years as Lead Engineer on such projects. Strong technical leadership, discipline‑specific project execution, interdisciplinary coordination. Experience on revamp (asset) projects. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Professional Engineering registration. Advanced knowledge of mechanical equipment design, including rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat‑transfer equipment, packaged equipment, metallurgy and welding. Preferred Qualifications Experience serving as Lead Engineer on mining and metals projects. Benefits and Compensation Salary Range: $130,000.00 – $253,000.00. Compensation based on experience, market, location.
