Self-identification in equity groups is confidential and can be included in the application.POSITION SUMMARYAdsum for Women & Children seeks to lead change to end homelessness through housing, services and advocacy. The organization provides emergency shelter and permanent housing and services and supports specifically for women, families and gender diverse persons who experience homelessness or housing insecurity.Currently, Adsum shelters 200 people between Adsum House and The Bridge where clients are of all genders. Hundreds more people, including children, are sheltering in hotels and temporarily housed in emergency units across HRM. Additionally, 100 people live in permanent affordable housing that is wholly owned and supported by Adsum. The Rose, Adsum’s newest location, currently provides supportive housing for 18 families and will soon open an additional six units.The Fund Development & Community Engagement Officer will be involved in the fundraising efforts of the organization and act as the liaison with community groups supporting Adsum. Reporting to, and working closely with the Executive Director, this role will represent Adsum at community events and build and manage relationships with external stakeholders such as sponsors, prospects, service clubs and others. The Fund Development & Community Engagement Officer will create and manage Adsum’s social media calendar and content and lead special event planning. The position will also provide communications support as needed.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESFund DevelopmentDevelop annual fundraising and stewardship plan.Establish financial goals.Create solicitation, recognition, and donor stewardship plans to engage ongoing donors.Identify and solicit prospective annual donors.Ensure prompt and appropriate gift acknowledgment.Manage relationships with existing sponsors and identify and connect with potential sponsors.Coordinate direct mail appeals.Manage grant applications.Research potential grant opportunities through foundations, government, and community groups.Create annual application and reporting schedule.Work with staff across the organization to write and submit proposals.Coordinate fundraising events and act as the organization’s liaison for third party events.Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising policies and practices.Assist Executive Director with the identification and cultivation of prospective major gift donors.Maintain accurate donor records in database.Community EngagementCreate opportunities to connect the community with Adsum’s mission, vision, and values.Prepare and deliver presentations to community and service groups.Manage relationships with community partners and external organizations.Recruit and coordinate volunteer work parties with community groups, companies, sports teams, clubs and more.Create annual and monthly social media plans and calendars. Develop and share engaging content across Adsum’s platforms.Maintain Adsum’s website content and keep it current.Manage Christmas and Back-to-School donation programs.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSPost-secondary degree or diploma in related field such as Fundraising, Public Relations, Communications, or Marketing.3-5 years of experience in fundraising, communications, community relations, or similar role in the non-profit sector.Demonstrated understanding of ethical fund development practices.Excellent communication skills including written and verbal communications and experience with public speaking and writing for a variety of audiences.Experience working and building relationships with individuals from a range of backgrounds and identities is an asset.Experience with social media management.Proficiency with a variety of fundraising and communications tools and software such as donor databases; Microsoft Office; Adobe Illustrator; and Canva.Videography (including post-production editing) experience considered an asset.Must provide criminal record and vulnerable person checks.Vehicle required.To apply, please submit a cover letter and current resume to: recruitment@adsumforwomen.orgNo phone calls please. #J-18808-Ljbffr
