Founded in 1979, the Northwood Foundation has been raising funds for over 40 years to support programs and initiatives that bring a quality of life to those living in our Northwood Community.

**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Fund Development Officer will manage and broaden a portfolio of key Northwood donors and partners through effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Working closely with the Northwood Foundation team, the Fund Development Officer is responsible for developing tailored strategies to deepen current and create new relationships and will contribute to the ongoing management, implementation, and evaluation of the fundraising strategic plan to meet the growing financial need of Northwood.

**Key responsibilities**:

- As an integral member of the Northwood Foundation team, the Fund Development Officer will:

- Contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of major gifts and other fundraising activities
- Support and grow Northwood Foundation signature events through revenue generation, including sponsorship
- Build and sustain relationships with donors and partners
- Collaborate with the communications team to prepare high-quality proposals,
- Deliver presentations and other communications materials for major gift prospects, donors, and sponsors.
- Engage and mobilize volunteers to support fundraising initiatives
- Provide exceptional donor stewardship through reporting, tours, and hosting meetings, in addition to fulfilling stewardship plans as set forth for major donors
- Embrace and promote Northwood's Six Pillars: Advocacy, Research, Innovation, Community, Diversity, and Loving Care
- Commit to continued learning and growth

**Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other requirements**:

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and written skills
- Resourceful and flexible with an ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Comfortable with networking and has a natural ability to build meaningful relationships
- Excellent understanding of the issues surrounding confidentiality and a high level of integrity
- Physical ability to support event set up and tear down, lifting and standing for long periods
- Work flexible hours during peak event times
- Access to a vehicle is a requirement as the ability to travel in HRM and beyond is a necessity.
- A kind, caring and compassionate attitude
- Exceptional relationship-building skills

- Comfortable being around and talking with Northwood clients of all ages
- Results focused with proven ability to raise funds

**Education and experience**:

- A combination of education and experience in the non-profit fundraising environment
- A minimum of 3-5 years of fund development experience
- Demonstrated success in moves management and securing gifts at the level of a major gift considered an asset
- Proficient with MS Office products and fundraising donor databases.
- CFRE Certification is considered an asset

**Salary**:As per the Northwood Scale

**Hours**:80 hours bi-weekly (8-hour shifts)
