Reporting to the Vice President, Indigenous Health and Chief Planning & Quality Officer, and working closely with the Indigenous Health leadership team, the Director, Indigenous Health Leaning & Quality Integration (the Director) is responsible for leading and directing Indigenous Health’s contribution to gathering, synthesizing, translating and disseminating Indigenous Health knowledge and practice across Northern Health. Partnering with Northern Health’s internal research, quality, evaluation and education leaders, the Director leads, cultivates, and facilitates system-level strategic and service delivery planning activities that directly inform and influence executive and senior management decision-making regarding Indigenous Health. In close partnership with the Indigenous Health leadership team, the Director guides and informs the development and provision of related educational programming, IPL services and other direct services provided by Indigenous Health. The Director leads the development of strategy recommendations in the area of quality improvement, evaluation, education planning and accountability as it relates to Indigenous Health. As part of the Indigenous Health leadership team, the Director develops, implements, monitors and adjusts related policies, procedures, and practices. In keeping with the values of the Indigenous Health team and many Indigenous perspectives, the Indigenous Health leadership team members will serve to support, enable, grow, and create efficiencies for the teams with which they work. Significant operational imperatives regarding cross-team collaboration, information sharing, verification, and team development will ensure that each team is supported not only within that team, but also within the larger Indigenous Health team in a holistic and transparent way. Leadership team members will act as strategic and operational supports, with the perspective and insights available to leaders at the senior level of the organization, offering guidance and carrying the needs, ideas and work of the team forward into Northern Health and NH senior Leadership. Living into the values and ways of working created by the Indigenous Health team, the Director-level leads will support accountability and continuous quality improvement in the work of Indigenous Health as well as guiding and supporting the integration with Northern Health as a large regional organization.

Starting salary will be approximately from $116,591 to $145,739 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
• A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to completion of a Masters degree in business, accounting, health administration or other relevant field of study, plus seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in a large, complex public sector environment.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities and leaders.
• Demonstrated leadership, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to a team-based collaborative approach to management.
• Demonstrated ability to create and support innovation and manage and implement change.
• Sound understanding of and commitment to the application of continuous quality improvement principles and practices.
• Knowledge of current health care issues and trends.
• Knowledge of current Indigenous health topics and issues in BC and within the NH region an asset.
• Knowledge of health systems including policy and service delivery aspects.
