The Director of Payroll will oversee the day-to-day payroll activities and provide leadership to a team of payroll specialists. Reporting to the Senior Director of Payroll and Technology Systems, this role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing compliance with legislation and the implementation of best practices in payroll administration. The Director of Payroll will serve as a strategic partner providing guidance to leadership on payroll-related matters and contributing to the ongoing development of payroll processes and systems.How Schlegel Villages supports our Team Members :Ongoing trainingPersonal & Professional Growth OpportunitiesBenefits and access to our Employee Family Assistance ProgramVacationDiscounts at Village ServicesTeam appreciation eventsAccess to The Wilfred Schlegel Hope FundRetirement SavingsKey Responsibilities :Lead coach and develop a team of payroll specialists fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.Oversee accurate and timely processing of payroll across multiple locations.Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll legislation, regulations and internal policies.Collaborate with HR, Finance and other business partners to resolve payroll issues and support operational needs.Develop, implement and maintain payroll policies, procedures and controls to ensure efficiency and compliance.Partner with technology teams to enhance payroll systems, processes and reporting capabilities.Provide regular reporting insights and analysis to senior leadership to support decision‑making.Stay current on payroll trends, legislation and best practices to continually improve payroll services.Qualifications & Competencies :Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive payroll experience including leadership of a payroll team.Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance requirements and payroll best practices in Canada.Experience managing payroll for multi‑location organizations is an asset.Proficiency with payroll software and technology systems; experience with payroll system implementation or upgrades is a plus.Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to coach and develop team members.Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, drive process improvements and work in a fast‑paced environment.If you are interested in the Director of Payroll Position please complete the application process and upload a current resume.Schlegel Villages is pleased to accommodate individual needs in accordance with the Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005 (AODA) within our recruitment process.
