The Finance department is a part of the administration team, providing support to the programs of House of Friendship. We are seeking an individual to be responsible for all aspects of payroll and including all related accounting, reporting and reconciliation. The successful applicant will be responsible for financial processing of accounts receivable, deposits and bank reconciliations as well as other accounting, financial analysis and external reporting to funders.

*** This is a permanent, salaried, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position**

**Schedule to generally be daytime, weekday hours.**

**Work may be performed in a home office for some of the weekly hours.**

**Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required to support**

**House of Friendship events.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Process payroll and prepare all related accounting, reporting and reconciliation functions, including calculating and preparing all statutory and government remittances
- Respond and resolve all employee payroll and group health benefit inquiries
- Maintain accurate current and historical employee records related to wages and benefits
- Configure and maintain data integrity of payroll and other financial systems
- Manage the administration of employee benefit plans and liaising with external benefits providers
- Prepare regular and ad hoc reports relating to payroll
- Process accounts receivables up to and including reconciliations
- Monitor agency bank and investment accounts and process banking transactions
- Assist with financial analysis and accounting functions and prepare external reporting to funders
- Provide financial and administrative support for fundraising activities and management
- Assist with reception and other accounting functions; provide backup to main office staff as necessary

**Skills Experience**:

- Post-secondary education in accounting or business administration
- Canadian Payroll Association certification (PCP), or working towards the designation would be considered an asset
- Accounting designation (CPA, CGA, etc.), or working towards an accounting designation would be considered an asset
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in accounting and office administration
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in payroll processing
- Expert knowledge of payroll systems and knowledge of Quadrant Workforce considered an asset
- Experience in accounting systems; knowledge of Financial Edge NXT considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong organizational and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Commitment to understand and uphold the mission, vision and values of House of Friendship is expected
- Exemplary emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, conflict management and problem solving skills required
- Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, participants and community members
- Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various cultural backgrounds, income levels, and sensitivity to their needs
- Experience with and commitment to using an anti-racism, anti-oppressive and trauma informed approach to consultation, program design, evaluations of processes and service delivery
- Must be dependable, professional, flexible, a team player, and have a positive attitude

- Excellent project, timeline and deadline management skills including skills in logistics, planning and detailed record keeping
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks and deadlines are required
