Job Summary
The Program Director is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the effective operation of Crossroads for Women's core programs, including the Transition House, Outreach Services, Jade Centre, and Second-Stage Housing. This role also involves managing Crossroads's buildings and maintaining partnerships for additional housing initiatives. Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the Program Director ensures that all programs are trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of all programs, ensuring safety protocols, intake processes, and trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive services.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs to ensure they effectively meet the needs of survivors and the community while tracking accessibility, quality, and effectiveness.
- Recruit, train, and support staff, conducting performance evaluations and fostering a supportive workplace culture that promotes professional growth, self-care, and continuous learning.
- Ensure facilities, equipment, and furniture are well-maintained, supervising security procedures and compliance with Department of Health and Fire Department regulations.
- Oversee transitional and second-stage housing, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, occupancy standards, and funding requirements, while addressing tenant needs in collaboration with property managers and housing partners.
- Support survivors in accessing resources, including government and community services, housing, financial aid, and mental health support, and provide advocacy and accompaniment as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, including client files, incident reports, and shelter documentation, to ensure compliance and track program effectiveness.
- Build and maintain partnerships with service providers, advocacy groups, and housing organizations, strengthening collaboration and service coordination.
- Represent Crossroads at community meetings, coalitions, and government consultations to advocate for survivors' needs.
- Assist in budget development and resource management to sustain operations efficiently.
- Prepare program reports, track data, and monitor service outcomes for funding agencies and internal review.
- Support the ED in fund development, including proposal writing, government advocacy, and identifying new funding opportunities.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: Degree in Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience in a leadership role will be considered.
- Leadership & Management: Proven experience leading teams, overseeing programs, and managing budgets in the social services sector.
- Expertise in Gender-Based Violence & Housing Services: Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, intimate partner violence, homelessness, and intersectional barriers survivors face.
- Problem-Solving & Crisis Management: Ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations and develop solutions to challenges as they arise.
- Communication & Relationship-Building: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with government agencies, funders, and community partners. Bilingualism is a must.
- Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Deep understanding of anti-oppressive practices and commitment to ensuring programs are accessible to all survivors, regardless of background.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic proficiency in Google Suite and web-based data management software.
- Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and uphold professional boundaries.
- Organization: Highly organized, able to manage multiple demands concurrently under tight timelines.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, sit for extended periods, read from computer screens, and maintain office equipment.
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector and criminal record check upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
- Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Must work on-site and be legally able to work in Canada.
