Manager, Fraud Risk Strategy

Location: Remote (Canada) Department: Risk & Decision Science Base Salary for this role: $120,000 - $140,000 CAD About The Role We’re looking for a strategic, data-driven Manager, Fraud Risk Strategy to lead Mogo’s fraud prevention efforts across our lending and wealth businesses. This newly created role will own the end‑to‑end fraud function – from strategy and analytics to tool selection and operations. You’ll play a critical role in building scalable fraud controls that leverage the latest in data, AI, and automation to protect our platform and users. You’ll work cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and external partners to design and implement fraud solutions that prevent losses while preserving a seamless customer experience. The ideal candidate brings deep fraud knowledge, technical fluency, and a builder mindset. What You’ll Do Own and execute Mogo’s enterprise fraud strategy across multiple product verticals (lending, wealth) Design and implement fraud detection and prevention systems using a combination of rule‑based logic, analytics, and AI/ML‑based models Evaluate, deploy, and manage fraud tools and technologies, including those that leverage artificial intelligence and behavioral analytics Monitor fraud KPIs and loss trends, conduct root cause analysis, and drive data‑informed policy changes and model calibrations Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to implement scalable, compliant, and customer‑centric risk solutions Engage with external vendors, fraud platforms, and industry forums to ensure Mogo remains ahead of emerging fraud vectors – including ATO, synthetic identity, and deepfake‑driven schemes Contribute to incident response and case investigations in partnership with fraud ops or compliance teams when escalations arise What You’ll Bring 5–7+ years of experience in fraud risk strategy, fraud analytics, or fraud operations Strong grasp of fraud typologies and trends, including synthetic ID, ATO, deepfakes, and digital onboarding fraud Proven experience with fraud tools, platforms, and technologies – especially those involving AI/ML, device intelligence, and behavioral biometrics Proficient in SQL and Python (or similar tools) to conduct exploratory data analysis, build dashboards, and support model logic Background in fintech, digital banking, or financial services preferred Critical thinker with a strong bias for action, capable of operating in fast‑paced and ambiguous environments Excellent communicator with the ability to influence across technical and non‑technical teams Benefits of working with us ALWAYS FULLY REMOTE WORK – Enjoy the flexibility of remote work, supported by necessary resources Comprehensive Health and Wellness – Access medical, dental, and vision coverage plus a Health Spending Account Stock Options – Have a stake in the company’s success through stock options Flex Vacation – Benefit from paid time off, including vacation days, holidays, and personal days Wellbeing Programs – Access counselling services, mental health support, and additional wellness resources About Us We help make it easy for Canadians to achieve financial freedom while making a positive impact.
