Scheer Rowlett & Associates Investment Management Ltd. (SRA) is a $3.5 billion asset manager with 25 institutional clients managing five investment strategies ranging from Canadian Equity to Balanced Fund. We are looking for a Trader to join our Investment Team. The role will be 100 % in the office at King & York Street. What You Will Do The Trader will manage SRA’s trading desk and all ancillary applications. Work with PMs to understand and model portfolio transactions, set up trades in the Order Management System, obtain approvals, and send orders to the appropriate brokerage firm. When trades fail or are incomplete, quickly address issues and resolve them with support from the middle and back‑office teams (critical on a Trade Date + 1 basis). Relay relevant news from the street to the investment team. Build relationships with the middle and back‑office teams to facilitate issue resolution. Manage relationships with sales and traders at brokerage firms, ensuring trading decisions benefit SRA’s clients. Complete daily compliance tasks (sign off/vote on compliance emails related to completed trades and account cash positions), trade and performance reporting. Maintain the Summary and Coverage sheet to keep PM targets up to date. Generate weekly Variance Report & Cash Balance reports, monthly reports for commission, margin, and commodity prices, and quarterly blotter. Manage proxy voting through ISS’s portal. Run bi‑weekly risk reports for the Canadian Equity Portfolio and the International Equity Navigator Portfolio and provide them to the CIO for review with the SRA team. Take on additional projects or support client servicing, operations and administration functions at SRA in support of the CCO/COO. Work closely with the CIO to evolve reporting within the SRA risk framework (a math/quant/STEM/CFA/CPA background may be an asset). What You Bring At least 2–4 years of work experience through internships or summer positions. Undergraduate degree in Finance or equivalent. Highly attuned attention to detail and a willingness to double/triple check work and orders placed. Comfortable working with multiple technologies and highly proficient in MS Excel. Ability to build relationships within SRA, CC&LFG, and externally with brokers. Ability to understand Portfolio Managers’ trading intentions and styles while negotiating effectively with the trade counterparty. Comfortable working in a collegial environment with a very flat structure.
