Scheer Rowlett & Associates Investment Management Ltd. (SRA) is a $3.5bln asset manager with 25 institutional clients managing 5 different investment strategies (from Canadian Equity, International Equity, through to Balanced Fund).We are looking for a Trader to join our Investment Team. The Trader will be responsible for our equity trading efforts (global but mainly Canadian equities), portfolio implementation, portfolio risk monitoring and review with the investment team and collaborating with the middle and the back-office teams (part of the Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group).The role will be 100% in the office, located at King and York Street.What You Will Do:The Trader will be responsible for managing SRA’s trading desk and all ancillary applications.Work with PM’s to understand then model portfolio transactions, setting up the trades in the Order Management System, getting approval then sending orders out to the appropriate Brokerage firm.When trades fail or are incomplete, very quickly address the issues and resolve them with support of the middle and back office teams (on a Trade Date + 1 basis, this is critical).Relay relevant news from the street to the investment team.Build relationships with the middle and back office teams such that they want to help you to resolve any trading issues.Build relationships and then manage those relationships with sales and traders within the brokerage firms with whom we work, ensuring that everything done is for the benefit of SRA’s clients.Complete daily compliance tasks (sign off/vote on various compliance emails relating to completed trades and account cash positions), trade and performance reporting.Manage the Summary and Coverage sheet to ensure that it’s up to date with all of the PM’s targets.Manage the weekly Variance Report & Cash Balances Reports, monthly reports for commission, margin, and commodity prices, and quarterly Blotter.Manage proxy voting through ISS’s portal.Run the bi-weekly Risk Reports for the Canadian Equity Portfolio and the International Equity Navigator Portfolio (with support from the IDA team in Vancouver) and provide to the CIO for him to review with the entire SRA team.Candidate will be required to take on certain other projects or provide help with client servicing, operations and administration functions at SRA in support of the CCO/COO.The candidate will work closely with CIO to help evolve reports / reporting around the SRA risk framework (in this respect a math / quant / STEM / CFA / CPA background maybe an asset).What You Bring:At least 2-4 years of work experience through internships or summer positionsUndergraduate degree in Finance or equivalentHighly attuned attention to detail, not afraid to double/triple check work and orders placedComfortable working with multiple technologies and very proficient at MS ExcelAbility to build relationships both within SRA and CC&LFG as well as externally with brokersAbility to understand Portfolio Managers’ trading intentions and styles, while negotiating effectively with the trade counterpartyComfortable working within a collegial environment with a very flat structureAbout Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group:At Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group, we understand the value of opportunity – for our clients and our team.
