SUMMARY

Ensures maximum profitability of the producing plant by developing and executing short-term and long-term operating and maintenance plans; establishes standards of performance and enforces compliance with Company rules, policies and procedures. Supports development of a culture of continuous improvement and acts as a mentor to help team members reach the next level of responsibility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Coordinates implementation and execution of all health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
  2. Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls.
  3. On a regular basis, mentors and coaches supervisors on best methods to achieve the operation’s goals for safety, human resources, quality, and production.
  4. Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  5. Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  6. Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  7. Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  8. Develops a collaborative environment by engaging employee input to improve manufacturing performance, safety, product quality, cost control, productivity, and environmental protection.
  9. Plans, develops, and implements methods to meet departmental and company goals within agreed upon budgets and timeframes.
  10. Implements a data-driven culture to balance competing interests to make logical and timely decisions.
  11. Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  12. Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  13. Oversees and coordinates recruitment and new hire process to maintain required staffing and maintains employee training programs.
  14. Works with management on succession planning by identifying individual development needs for team members.
  15. Oversees and coordinates raw material, in-process, and finished goods inventory control processes and reconciliations to ensure accurate inventories, timely movements of materials, and accurate measurements of material usage.
  16. Directs the activities of each department through superintendents who are responsible for producing effective results within their area of responsibilities to ensure optimum product quality, availability, and line efficiency.
  17. Maintains a safe working environment for all employees and ensures that employees follow established safety rules to achieve the goal of zero injuries.
  18. Performs additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
  2. Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt Certification required.
  3. 5 - 7 years supervisory/management experience in a 24-hour manufacturing operation.
  4. Demonstrated capability in planning, organizing, implementing, and measuring programs and projects; strong problem-solving, analytical, and computer skills.
  5. Must have the ability to work effectively and positively with all organizational levels, be proactive, and an innovator.
  6. Demonstrated capability to initiate and lead change in a manufacturing environment and drive success.
  7. Demonstrated empathetic people management skills and a balanced approach to problem-solving.
  8. Working knowledge of statistical process control and lean manufacturing methods.
