As the Director of External Affairs Canada, you’ll have the unique opportunity to craft Enbridge’s engagement with governments at the federal and provincial levels, provide expert counsel to executive leaders, and help navigate complex political and economic environments to support our business strategy.We are looking to add an individual to our diverse team who shares in our core values of safety, integrity, respect, inclusion and high performance In return, we offer opportunities to grow and increase your knowledge and skills, and an exciting career filled with a competitive benefits and pension package including generous time off.This is a critical position in service of the company’s ability to implement and evolve its short-term and long-term strategic objectives through the creation of business value and competitive advantage based on building strong performance and relationships in highly complex areas in which the Director has identified accountabilities.Responsibility for preparation of content, measurement and analysis of Enbridge’s performance related to its advocacy strategy.Select, develop, and manage direct reports to ensure the achievement of expected outcomes. This includes ensuring that the team maintains and is accountable for specific advocacy plans for each business unit (BU), region and project within the Directors span of control.Deliver optimal functional results within appropriate performance metrics including quality; and financial performance. This includes ensuring that relevant advice and guidance is given (in the form of policies, strategies, programs and guidelines) to enable those delivering service to Enbridge BU’s to meet regulatory requirements.Develop and optimize (i.e. making as good and effective as possible) key external relationships and represent Enbridge externally as appropriate, e.g. with key legislators and their staffs/committee staffs and regulators, as well as other elected officials, to effectively obtain support for the objectives of Enbridge, including enhancing social license and Enbridge reputation.Serve as a primary point of contact, relationship manager, and representative for Enbridge in Canada with external partners in governments, advocacy organizations, policy think tanks and industry groups.Manage the research and associated impact analysis at the policy, legislative and regulatory levels of the issues impacting Enbridge at the Enterprise level.Manage and coordinate Enbridge participation and sponsorship of third party conferences and programs within the Directors span of control.Advanced university degree in Political Science, Law, Economics, Business or related field.Existing network of strong relationships within government, regulatory, and public policy.Experience writing professionally, published reports would be ideal.Extensive experience presenting to external audiences, company executives and board of directors.Experience managing teams and strong leadership skills.
