Our operations are supported by a team of skilled engineers, technicians, and industry professionals who are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of craftsmanship and innovation.The primary purpose of the Methods Engineer (Special Processes) is to:Be accountable for developing and revising work instructions, and manufacturing documentation to process/route parts through various operations within the plant including plating, cleaning, painting & heat treatmentResearch and propose engineering changesSupporting Production, Quality, Procurement, and other internal groups to solve relevant technical problemsParticipate in internal and external audit activitiesKey ResponsibilitiesWork instruction creation, revision, and maintenanceCreate/revise and review work instructions to ensure conformance to process specifications and Nadcap requirementsFirst Line of Technical Support for ManufacturingProvide on site support for shop floor operatorsTroubleshoot technical manufacturing problemsParticipate in investigations into technical issues, including assisting in Root Cause AnalysisConsult with Liaison Engineering to initiate resolutions to build or design technical issues reported through the NCM ProcessLiaise with QC, Quality Engineering, and Supply Chain to develop resolutions and implement changes to technical or quality problemsResearch and propose engineering changesRecord and submit Engineering Change requests for changes to build, design and toolsRecord and submit Engineering Change requests to initiate Make vs. Buy decisionsAssist Planning in execution of NCM Tasks (i.e... Work order instructions)Execute ECN related tasks to incorporate Type Design and Build changesRepresent and report on Methods Engineering functionsBuild Cost Reductions and ImprovementsAssist Area Managers in developing plans to increase efficiency including acquisition and implementation of new equipmentEngage in company initiatives/projects to increase production rate and reduce costsTrainingAssist training of Production, QC, Methods Engineering and co-op personnelExperience & QualificationsDegree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technology; or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer)5+ years of progressive hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industryKnowledge of special processes, including chemical conversion coating, anodize processes, passivation, primers, topcoats & heat treatmentExperience and previous involvement with Nadcap certification/recertification requirementsStrong written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of cost accounting and cost estimatingKnowledge of Aerospace engineering and manufacturing principles and techniquesAbility to apply sound engineering principles to operational and process design issuesAbility to communicate and document information using a computer and required software (Microsoft Excel skills are an asset)Ability to manage and act on multiple projects and priorities at one timeAbility to work effectively either independently or with others on flexible work assignmentsExperience/training in root cause analysis an assetAt De Havilland Aircraft of Canada (DHC), we are committed to protecting our people, customers, shareholders and the public through Health & Safety Excellence.
