OverviewSr. Process Control Engineer at Syensqo. This on-site role at the Welland Site, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada provides ongoing support for a DCS-controlled chemical manufacturing facility. Responsibilities include administration, programming, and maintenance of Emerson Delta V® and Moore APACS systems in a mixed-mode (batch and continuous) operation. The ideal candidate collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to leverage control system technologies for enhanced process safety and operational efficiency. Reports to: Site Process Control Group Leader.ResponsibilitiesProvide ongoing support for the installed Emerson Delta V system and manage future expansions.Schedule and oversee system maintenance activities performed by contractors.Assign and maintain documentation for I/O connections and system interfaces.Ensure proper system backups and maintain all related documentation.Serve as the lead on-site programmer for Delta V, executing recipes according to process and operational requirements.Collaborate with Maintenance and Operations teams to troubleshoot issues identified by Delta V.Learn and understand current process executions, propose automation opportunities, and lead the implementation and start-up of new recipes—including those required for new product introductions.Work with Operations Engineers to review, modify, and optimize existing sequential programming (recipes) to improve yield, reduce cycle time, and minimize interruptions or program stalls.Lead process control improvement projects, managing schedules, budgets, testing (Factory Acceptance Test [FAT], Site Acceptance Test [SAT]), start-up activities, and all required documentation and approvals.Coordinate the integration of additional process control elements into the Delta V platform.Support the ongoing migration from APACS to Delta V, including planning, execution, start-up, and commissioning.Assist in the administration and support of the site’s OSI/PI historian system.You will bringBachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (Chemical or Electrical preferred). Registration as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario, or eligibility for registration, is preferred.Minimum of 8+ years of direct experience in industrial chemical plant operations, with broad exposure to production, engineering, and unionized maintenance and operations personnel.Experience in facilities operating to world-class standards in process safety, digital instrumentation and control, and safety, health, and environmental practices—especially related to maintenance activities and contractor management.Demonstrated expertise in using Emerson Delta V process control systems in both batch and continuous manufacturing environments.Working knowledge of process historian systems; direct experience with OSI/PI process historian systems is highly desirable.Ability to work with both hardware and software systems to support unit operations, including collaboration with vendors and contractors to ensure proper system development and installation.Solid understanding of electrical systems compliant with the Canadian Electrical Code (Section 18) for installations in hazardous areas and the ISA S88 Batch Process Control Standard.Familiarity with EthernetIP, DeviceNet, and Modbus communication platforms.Experience with three-phase AC motors and industrial motor controls, including variable frequency drives.Proven track record in executing brownfield projects involving new or replacement control systems, process instrumentation, HMI, and process data networks.Strong verbal and technical writing skills to communicate control system changes and strategies to Operations, and to complete management of change and training documentation for projects.You will getCompetitive salary and benefits16 or more weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulationsTraining platform for all employeesFree well-being sessions (physical and psychological)Additional informationLocation: Onsite at Welland Site, Niagara Falls (Ontario, Canada)About UsSyensqo is a science company developing groundbreaking solutions that enhance the way we live, work, travel and play.
