The Role This is a full‑time, hybrid position based out of Calgary, Alberta, with partial work‑from‑home flexibility. As a Systems Integrator, you’ll play a key role in designing, programming, and deploying advanced process control and automation systems for clients in the mining and oil & gas industries. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a strong foundation in process automation, DCS configuration, and PLC integration, who are looking to lead technically challenging and impactful projects across Western Canada. Key Responsibilities Design, program, and commission process control systems using leading PLC, DCS, and SCADA platforms. Develop and integrate automation frameworks that support real‑time data acquisition, analytics, and decision‑making in process environments. Configure and maintain industrial networks, servers, and SCADA/DCS systems (Ignition, FactoryTalk, DeltaV, or similar). Collaborate closely with process engineers, electrical teams, and operations staff to ensure seamless integration across systems. Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving instrumentation, control loops, PLC/HMI communication, and network connectivity. Contribute to architecture design, cybersecurity, and system optimization for uptime and reliability. Support commissioning, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT) at client facilities. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including logic diagrams, control narratives, and system standards. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technologists and engineers. Must‑Have Qualifications To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency, legally eligible to work in Canada. A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation and Control Technology, Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Robotics/Mechatronics Engineering. 8+ years of hands‑on experience in process control, automation, or systems integration within the mining or oil & gas industries. Demonstrated proficiency with Rockwell Automation PlantPAx and/or Emerson DeltaV platforms. Proven ability to design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems in process environments. Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, MQTT). Practical knowledge of industrial networking, server administration, and cybersecurity best practices. Willingness and ability to travel weekly to client sites across Western Canada. Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a focus on safety, quality, and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications These qualifications are not required, but they will make your application stand out: Experience with ABB 800xA and/or Honeywell Experion DCS platforms. Background in steel manufacturing or heavy industrial manufacturing environments. Exposure to autonomous or semi‑autonomous process control systems, robotics, or machine learning integration. Hands‑on experience with Ignition SCADA, FactoryTalk View SE/ME, or similar visualization systems. Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V) and server infrastructure management. Working knowledge of OT/IT network design, cybersecurity standards, and system hardening practices. Experience with ISA‑88/ISA‑95 frameworks or other industrial automation standards. Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor junior engineers and technologists. Strong technical writing, documentation, and project communication skills. Eligibility & Location Position based in Calgary, Alberta, with hybrid work flexibility. Frequent weekly travel to client sites across Western Canada is required. Preference will be given to local candidates currently residing in or near Calgary. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents legally eligible to work in Canada.
