For over three decades, we have provided innovative building automation solutions for commercial, healthcare, education, and leisure facilities.Job SummaryThe Senior Hardware Designer is fully competent in Digital and Analog Hardware design and typically fills the role of Hardware Technical Lead on a project team.The Senior Hardware Designer is expected to complete design, prototyping, research and basic testing of new or existing hardware projects with a minimum of supervision.ResponsibilitiesPrimarily drive best practices around the development of embedded hardware products.Optimize interdepartmental processesDrive recommended technology training for hardware designersLead a DFX program with a focus on design for supply chain, manufacturing, testability and reliabilityDFMEA experience an assetPeriodically develop hardware projects including the design, planning and scheduling in accordance with established procedures and guidelines as described in Product Development ProcessPotentially line manage component engineering teamResearch and DesignExplore and research new technologies that align with product directionSupport technical evaluations of proposed designs as neededHelp gather and document product requirementsIdentify potential project risks and suggest mitigation strategiesContribute to cost assessments for current and proposed designsGenerate accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for various product versionsDevelop schematic and circuit board layoutsCoordinate with the mechanical design team to ensure design alignmentAccount for system power needs and thermal performance in all designsEnsure component selection follows established standards and guidelinesQuality and TestingCreate a test plan for any new product designsAssist in the creation of quality test procedures for new product designs and existing productsEnsure all design and implementations are reviewed by another qualified hardware designer or QA hardware specialistReview other hardware designer’s work against requirements and quality standardsAnalyze product failures or issues and contribute to the resolution of these issuesPreferred Skills and AbilitiesProven expertise in both analog and digital circuit designSolid understanding in printed circuit board (PCB) design and layoutSkilled in technical communication, including documentation and design reportingEffective at managing time and priorities across multiple concurrent projectsCapable of working independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in team environmentsProficiency in EDA tools; experience with Altium Designer is considered an assetStrong interpersonal and cross-functional communication skillsRequired Qualifications and ExperienceP. Eng ( or eligible for EGBC registration)10+ years of experience in electrical hardware designWork Location : SurreyType : Full-time, PermanentCompensation : $93,000 - $110,000This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations.
