The Purchaser is a relationship-driven, detail-oriented role focused on securing the right parts at the right time to keep AML’s operations flowing. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our supply chain is both cost-efficient and resilient by managing vendor relationships, maintaining clean purchasing data, and aligning purchases with inventory health.With experience in procurement, ERP systems, and supplier negotiation, you will help prevent production disruptions, optimize cash flow, and build partnerships that support operational excellence. We operate from locations at either end of Canada.What you’ll do:Secure Parts Availability: Ensure all components are ordered and delivered on time to meet production needs. Anticipate potential disruptions and take proactive steps to prevent shortages.Optimize Inventory Strategy: Make purchasing decisions that balance cost, forecasted demand, and warehouse capacity to maintain healthy inventory turns.Build Supplier Relationships: Foster long-term partnerships with suppliers to improve lead times, reduce costs, and gain priority service.Maintain Accurate ERP Data: Keep supplier records, part costs, lead times, and minimum order quantities up to date for accurate planning and execution.Drive Process Improvement: Support improvements to supply chain workflows, purchasing strategies, and cost management.Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with inventory, production, and engineering to align purchasing decisions with changing priorities.Accountabilities:Reliable Part Availability: Prevent shortages through proactive purchasing and supplier engagement.Inventory Health: Improve inventory turns while avoiding overstock and emergency orders.Supplier Data Accuracy: Maintain clean, updated purchasing information in ERP systems.Vendor Management: Build strong relationships that improve AML’s leverage, cost, and delivery timelines.Team Culture: Drive improvement and foster collaboration within and across teams.Competencies:Negotiation: Skilled in securing favorable pricing and terms while maintaining supplier goodwill.Relationship Building: Builds trust and rapport with suppliers and internal teams.ERP/MRP Fluency: Understands how to maintain supplier data, issue POs, and use ERP to support purchasing decisions.Industrial Hygiene & Safety Awareness: Maintains clean digital and physical systems; follows best practices.Communication & EQ: Clear, proactive communicator able to adapt tone and content to different audiences.Company culture is paramount and we’re looking for like-minded individuals to join our team.Experience Level: Intermediate (3-5 years of relevant experience)Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, CanadaType: Full Time, Permanent #J-18808-Ljbffr
