Reporting to the Senior Procurement Specialist, as a key member of the procurement team, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate fulfillment of material and service demands within the organization. This role supports operational efficiency by managing the end-to-end procurement process, maintaining data integrity, and fostering strong vendor relationships. What You’ll Do Here: Ensure timely fulfillment of procurement demands to support operational requirements. Create and manage purchase orders in SAP, verifying quantities, pricing, and delivery terms with vendors. Support the process for selecting the suppliers and subcontractors for a wide variety of goods, works and services as requested by operations. Adhere to Aecon’s preferred supplier sourcing strategy and procurement policies. Drive continuous improvement toward a zero-exception procure-to-pay (P2P) process. Resolve procurement‑related exceptions in real time, including pricing discrepancies, delivery issues, account assignments, and material/service mismatches. Enhance and maintain the accuracy and usability of Aecon’s material master data. Verify packing slips for completeness and accuracy of received goods and services and perform the goods receipt in SAP. Monitor and track all rental equipment and tooling to ensure proper usage and return. Reconcile open commitments and close purchase orders as necessary to maintain system accuracy. Perform additional procurement administrative tasks as required to support departmental goals. What You Bring to the Team: Minimum two years’ experience in construction industry, experience in procurement favourable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercising judgment and initiative and involves multi‑tasking. Strong organizational and time management skills. Strong ability to forge relationships both internally within different Aecon departments and externally with suppliers. Technical understanding of SAP and the procure to pay process. Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel. Independent thinker capable of taking initiative and finding solutions for challenges.
