Project Manager/Estimator

Our highly respected client is searching for a hands-on Project Manager/Estimator to join their successful team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage the overall project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

The Project Manager will be responsible for covering a broad spectrum covering all areas of project management such as project planning, cost management, time management, quality management, and safety management.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  1. Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labour estimates for projects and services related to commercial construction opportunities
  2. Receive tender packages and quickly determine and understand the scope, site, and project specifics, construction and tender schedules, areas of risk, and length of time to estimate the package
  3. Prepare accurate estimate summaries of materials, labour, equipment, subcontractors, and other costs
  4. Oversee construction of projects from start to finish
  5. Project plan, budget, and identify resources as needed
  6. Create teams, develop objectives and goals of each, and assign responsibilities
  7. Minimize exposure and risk
  8. Ensure construction activities move according to predetermined schedule
  9. Devise project work plans and make revisions when the need arises
  10. Communicate effectively with contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project
  11. Coordinate efforts of all parties involved in the project
  12. Monitor the progress of construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular meetings with all parties
  13. Maintain strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards
  14. Periodic inspection of construction sites
  15. Ensure all project documentation is complete
  16. Identify elements of project design and scope likely to give rise to disputes and claims
  17. Serve as key link with clients and review deliverables prepared by the team before passing onto the client

Your strengths include:

  1. Minimum 5 years of Project Management/Estimating
  2. PMI Certifications (PMP) or post-secondary project management training would also be considered an asset
  3. Ability to plan and organize a team effort
  4. Good client management and goodwill building ability
  5. Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of workers
  6. Effective time management and logical decision-making ability
  7. Capacity to handle pressure
  8. Willingness to travel extensively across possible multiple sites
  9. Strong physical and mental fitness
  10. Strong focus on quality and safety
  11. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  12. Strong organizational skills
