Make an impact with our Indigenous EASE Cloud Accounting Services team as a Technician. This diverse team of professionals works with more than 250 Indigenous peoples, groups and organizations across Canada and shares a passion for learning and understanding their history, culture, and contributions to our country. As a trusted advisor, you’ll use cutting-edge technology to deliver a full suite of services, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and payroll administration. This position is eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement. Note that this role is not suitable for someone looking to pursue their CPA.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist with full cycle bookkeeping and payroll functions for MNP clients.
  2. Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings (PST-GST), recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and for the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).
  3. Set up client files and assist with the completion of budgets and administrative planning.
  4. Maintain, monitor, and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads.
  5. Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with supervisor or engagement partner to develop resolutions.
  6. Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments, and installments.
  7. Work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with clients and team members.

Skills and Experience

  1. Accounting certificate or a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting, finance, or management information systems (MIS) major is considered an asset).
  2. Bookkeeping experience.
  3. Experience with non-profit organizations or First Nations would be an asset.
  4. Experience executing accounting system implementations; conversion experience moving from desktop-based products to cloud applications is preferred.
  5. Experience working with desktop-based small business accounting packages, including QuickBooks Desktop, Sage 50, Sage 300, Xyntax, Adagio and/or other legacy desktop products.
  6. Experience working with cloud-based accounting packages is considered an asset (e.g., QBO, Xero, Sage Intacct).
  7. Advanced experience in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and image editing software (i.e., GIMP, Snag It).
